Compared with the machining method, thread forming excels through its higher repeat accuracy and greater strength of the threads. The FormMax solid carbide thread former by LMT Fette is made of a newly developed ultra-fine grain carbide and is tailored precisely to customers’ needs thanks to its optimized geometry. Thread quality and tool life are increased even further, as the coated tool surface is especially smooth. Furthermore, higher circumferential speeds increase the efficiency of thread forming. The tool features integrated coolant channels. The standard program covers the dimensions M4 to M12 and MF8 x 1 to MF14 x 1.5 and is available ex-stock at short notice.

LMT Fette rolling heads generate the thread or required form and then open automatically after rolling. Before the next thread can be rolled the head has to be put back into working position, means the head must be closed. The completely new designed closing clip, delivered as standard, already allows an flexible and user friendly layout of the process for closing the rolling head. Another significant optimization of the closing process can be realized with the new closing device (CCD) for EVOline. Adapted between rolling head and shank and connected with the coolant supply, closing of the rolling head can be transferred from process time to the non-productive time of the machine. Closing by coolant (or even compressed air) can be integrated in the machine program by a simple function.

With XChange from LMT Fette, with its patented interface, for the fi rst time it has been possible to combine the advantages of carbide and steel in a modular tap. Approximately 90 % of the taps used nowadays are still made from high-speed steel. This is because this cutting material is featuring the requested toughness for absorbing the torsional moment as well as the necessary load at the cutting edge when rewinding the tap. HSS, however, is having some disadvantages also, compared to solid-carbide taps: tool life and most importantly the feasible cutting speeds and cycle times are significantly lower. High-strength for design and repair Coil threaded inserts or “coils” are an outstanding solution for achieving highstrength joints in parts made from low-strength materials (e.g. aluminium lightweight constructions). At the same time, high wear resistance is guaranteed. Furthermore, the inserts are ideally suited for the repair of damaged threads. Very simple handling Coils consist of a specially formed and coiled wire with a driver pin that can be removed after installation and can be fitted quickly and easily in just a few steps. The HONSEL COIL "cone" can be installed in the same way as a coil with tab. No additional or special tools are required for process-reliable installation. When the HONSEL COIL "cone" is screwed onto the installation spindle, the conical portion of the wire thread insert creates a clamping effect between the installation tool and the coil. This ensures a stable installation process into the work piece. Coil screw system 2G for automated and partially automated installation of wire thread inserts. Due to the slim construction, screw systems can be placed close to each other.
