IRwin® Methane Leak Detector is an innovative, portable natural gas detector for easy gas pipe survey and gas leak detection. It is developed in accordance with many national directives, such as the DVGW (Deutscher Verband des Gas- und Wasserfaches) directive. The IRwin SX-models are certified for use in Zone 0, classification Ex II 1G, Ex ia IIC T3 Ga. With the development of CHARM®, Open Grid Europe is providing an efficient leakage control method for natural gas pipeline networks and thus an alternative to the labour intensive practice of conducting on-site inspections of the pipelines with gas detection devices. CHARM® is a highly accurate infrared laser system integrated in a helicopter that is capable of precisely detecting even very low methane concentrations from the air. Even in the case of very complex pipeline topologies, the course of the pipeline can be detected consistently on a large scale during the flight by an automatic, highly precise scanning beam control system (autotracking), thus ensuring a reliable leak tightness inspection of the natural gas pipeline.
