Binoculars and Periscopes invert an image to make an object appear closer. There are two types of prisms that can be used for binoculars: Porro and Roof Prisms. Porro prisms are used in a pair to create an optical path. The image would pass through the first prism and which then inverts the image, the second prism then flips the image, so it is making the distant object appear closer. Roof prisms work in a similar fashion however are one prism and this design performs in the same way. Used particularly for smaller compact spaces as there are aligned in one piece to its objective lenses. Knight Optical can offer UV Fused Silica Windows for Vacuum Applications. UV Fused Silica is a relatively hard optical glass with a very low coefficient of thermal expansion. This means that it is a good choice for us in Vacuum applications, as any difference in temperature will not affect the optical performance. In addition to the above, UV FS has high transmission from UV to NIR meaning that there is little loss of image when it is used for a Vacuum Window/viewport and therefore the quality of the optical system is not compromised. All our UV Fused Silica Lenses are fully inspected on their quality in our ISO 9001 certified, state-of-the-art Metrology laboratory, using our Trioptics Optispheric, and Starrett AV300 and Zygo Verifire XPZ. These Dichroic colour filters are typically used in scientific instrumentation or/and medical systems in particular palm vein scanners, ophthalmic diagnostics, professional eye care equipment from optical equipment or ophthalmic instruments. Our Dichroic filters: • Have a hard dielectric coating and are designed to offer high transmission over a specific wavelength while reflecting all other wavelengths. •Offer superior contrast between transmitted and reflected wavelengths. Having a dielectric coating they are perfect for high power applications and do not show the strong fluorescence of certain glass filters. •Are temperature resistant and can be used to reflect heat away from hot lighting systems in addition to their colour correcting properties, unlike traditional polyester type colour filters that melt and distort under thermal conditions.

Knight Optical can offer you Stock and Custom Colour Glass Filters, for use within Inline Cameras in a range of materials of brands such as Schott, Kopp and CDGM. Depending on the achievable wavelength and desired affect you need for the Inline Camera we can find a suitable material for your application. Colour Glass Filters are good for selecting a particular wavelength to be absorbed so that the high out of band blocking in achieved. With regards to the use in Inline Cameras, Colour Glass Short pass Filters are more desirable as they cut out the IR wavelengths mean the imaging is not saturated with the IR giving the image better clarity. Colour Glass Filters are polished sheets of special glass that have been cast with a dye. Colour Glass Filters generally are relatively cheap and very stable.
