VCI Bags are perfect for protecting sensitive ferrous metals whether travelling through the supply chain or during storage. What is VCI Film? Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor. The Corrosion Inhibitor formula works through a method of polar bonding whereby once your goods are sealed in the enclosed space the molecules create a kind of ‘mini atmosphere’ that attach to the surface of your metal product. This then protects the goods into the long term from the all the usual corrosion culprits. Including Air, Water, Dust, Acids and perspiration. Corrosion Inhibitors are available in differing formats and deliveries. Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) based flexible packaging with ‘built in’ VCI is the most popular choice, particularly for goods that are to be transported, exported or stored for an extended period of time.

VPCI 368 is a temporary coating that can provide corrosion protection in unsheltered or harsh, outdoor environmental conditions. Despite being A solvent based coating the 368 formula can easily be removed with an alkaline based cleaner such as VPCI 414 cleaner degreaser. Cortec VPCI 368 produces a ‘wax-like’ consistency and offers multi metal corrosion inhibitor protection, for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. In addition it is possible to match some custom colours if a ‘same colour as the surface’ solution is required. This product meets the commercial equivalent to MIL-PRF-16173E (Classes 1 & 2). NATO 6850-66-132-5848, 6099 & NSN 8030-00-062-6950. Application Guidance for Cortec VPCI 368 Surface Preparation – ensure substrate is grease, oil, dirt and fingerprint free. Also ensure the surface is free from rust inhibitors except Cortec Corporations own compatible product.

VPCI 309 is a vapour phase corrosion inhibitor based VCI powder suitable for long term continuous corrosion protection of ferrous metals in ‘hard to reach’ areas, void spaces, restricted areas, cavities, and awkward inner spaces. Cortec VPCI 309 utilizes a highly effective ‘dry method’ to guard metals within an enclosed area. The VPCI® technology essentially evaporates and is absorbed onto the metal surfaces that are exposed within the surrounding area or space. Effective when dealing with interior cavities for plant equipment, heavy machinery, etc. VPCI 309-SF is available as a silica-free specification, available made to order.

Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor Paper products from Cortec are unique in their ability to provide ‘best in class’ corrosion protection for a wide variety of metals. VPCI 149 has been specifically formulated to give enhanced protection to sensitive metals such as copper, aluminium and cast iron. VPCI 149® has a diverse range of applications and can be used as an effective solution for a variety of packaging needs. The paper itself has a unique feel, as it uses a neutral & natural kraft paper the coating is such that whilst the paper has a ‘soft’ feel it wraps very easily around metal parts. This makes VPCI 149 extremely easy to use. Furthermore, as this construction does not use saturated paper like cheaper alternatives it maintains a remarkably high tear resistance. This specification utilizes the renowned vapour phase corrosion inhibitor technology that results in a far superior level of protection to legacy VCI Paper alternatives.

EcoSonic® ESD anti static paper powered by Nano-VpCI®. This ESD paper combines the world renowned Cortec VPCI corrosion inhibitors with static dissipation/anti static properties to deliver a complete paper packaging product for your valuable products. For those looking to prevent static build up on their products EcoSonic ESD Paper performs exceptionally when compared to legacy ESD packaging materials. The coating on the paper is derived from a Soybean oil that consistently performs well when conducting the static half life test against traditional ESD Paper products that often use Alkyl Ammonium Chlorides, Ethoxylated Amines, Phosphated esters & non ionic based anti static coatings. The anti static coating used is also thermally stable up to temperatures of 200ºC, (392ºF) as well as being pH stable between 2 & 11 at temperatures in excess of 38ºC (100ºF) for days at a time.

Cortec VpCI® 148 is a grease and oil resistant paper for the packaging, storage and shipment of sensitive metal items. VpCI 148 combines a grease & oil resistant paper construction with Cortec’s Vapour Phase Corrosion Inhibitors for enhanced protection of your goods during transport and storage. VPCI 148 is resistant to grease, oils and solvent. Unlike other wax coated paper alternatives which can exacerbate existing environmental problems, VPCI 148 contains a bio based organic coating that is fully recyclable and repulpable. Like with all Cortec VpCI papers 148 is made from neutral and natural Kraft paper. A fluorochemical free product. Cortec VPCI 337 is a market leading rust inhibitor spray formula. Part of the Ecofog® range of biodegradable fluids VPCI-337 is a water based vapor corrosion inhibitor used primarily to create sufficient corrosion protection within internal void spaces. This formula essentially replaces all together legacy metal preservation systems such as nitrogen and dry air blanketing. The Vapour Phase Corrosion Inhibitors (VPCI) in 337 are designed to fog (or mist) void spaces within containers, tanks, export crates and other enclosures. The VPCI molecules migrate away from their initial spray pattern to protect metal surfaces within the enclosed space. This method is a labour-saving technique which uses minimal product to potentially protect large volumes and spaces. The ‘value equation’ here means that the use of Cortec VPCI 337 products long term results in both savings of cost and time.

Anti Corrosion Wrapping Paper (or VCI Paper) as it is commonly referred to is a cost-effective solution for the protection of metals both ferrous and non-ferrous. CorShield® VPCI 146 is a premium vapor corrosion inhibitor paper from Cortec Corporation. The patented vapour phase corrosion inhibitor technology used in this construction has in recent years revolutionized the way metals are transported and stored throughout the supply chain. By using the 146 anti corrosion wrapping paper there is no need to keep various paper sizes for different parts. All that is required is that you wrap items in the VPCI Paper whilst folding the edges together with some adhesive tape or a heat sealing machine. VPCI molecules essentially ‘vaporize’ and form a very thin, mono layered protective films that does not affect the appearance or require removal before finishing or when used. Manufactured from 100% recycled paper content VPCI® 146 is fully recyclable and repulpable as standard.

Cortec VPCI 422 EcoAir® aerosol is a market leading ‘best in class’ liquid rust remover spray. The sophisticated VPCI® (vapour phase corrosion inhibitor) formula is such that it’s extremely effective when used to remove rust from steel, brass, chrome, aluminium, copper & iron. Yet it remains harmless to whoever is handling it. VPCI 422 beats legacy products as it effectively fights corrosion without creating the usual waste disposal difficulties that come with rust removal work of this kind. Vpci-422 G is a modified version of the regular VPCI-422. The ‘G’ spec is recommended for those looking to remove galvanic corrosion. (electrical corrosion) In addition to being human skin contact safe, VPCI 422 does not adversely affect any of the surfaces it may meet when removing rust from metal. Most paints, woods, textiles, ceramics, rubbers and plastics will remain unchanged when used as recommended.

Cortec VPCI® 414 is a water based, biodegradable cleaner degreaser that also removes temporary coatings such as Cosmoline™, Cortec VPCI 368, VPCI 388, VPCI 389 as well as non-silicone-based wax substances from metal and painted surface areas. Heskins squeegee is a useful tool in the application of reflective tape. The squeegee helps to remove air bubbles and prevent tearing on the application. A squeegee is a reusable tool made from ABS resin that is strong enough to not break, but flexible enough to not cause any damage to the material. Heskins squeegee is available in blue. Heskins seam rollers are available to help increase the durability of your anti-slip tape or floor marking tape application. By using the seam roller once you have applied your anti-slip or floor marking tape, by applying pressure to the surface with the seam roller, this increases the bond between the adhesive and floor surface. This results in a quickly cured surface with a durable application. The seam roller is made from a semi-ridged foam, that will allow pressure to be applied without damaging the surface. The handle is made from plastic, coated in rubber to enhance grip and comfort.

Heskins rubber mallet is intended for use on our conformable Safety Grip. Used to help conformable to conform to any irregular surface it is applied to, the mallet head is rubber to prevent damage to the surface, but increase the service life of conformable anti-slip tape. Heskins provide rubber mallets with a wooden handle to reduce vibration and increase comfort. It is varnished to prevent splintering. The mallets weight is 525 grams. Heskins H3510 keying agent is an advance in adhesive technology, in the battle against low energy surfaces. All self-adhesive bases are liquid-based and as such, they need to ‘wet out’, which means they need friction to bond with a surface. The less friction, or energy, the less efficient the bond will be. H3510 keying agent, applied in small amounts, will increase the amount of energy in a surface and help create that efficient and durable bond. H3510 is only required for a very small amount of surfaces, normally these are PUR, some PPs etc, these surfaces typically exhibit low surface energy levels. Heskins H3502 edge fix sealer greatly helps to prevent the lifting of the Safety-Grip antislip in high traffic areas. One simply applies the edge fix down the side of the tape using the narrow nozzle built into the tube, it helps to secure the product and extend its life. A 140ml tube will cover approximately 35 linear metres, for larger quantities, we can offer an automated pressure pot system. A pressure pot system is a method of applying the edge fix sealer with rapid production line speed, all it requires is a compressed airline to be in place, Heskins will then supply the pot chamber and the applicator, the pressure pot system enables huge material cost savings compared to 140ml tubes.

Heskins surface primer is ideal for sealing porous surfaces such as wood, concrete or stone prior to application of our anti-slip tape to prevent moisture degrading the adhesive; it also greatly helps to create an extra bond on other surfaces. The normal tin size is 1 litre which covers appro­ximately 5m², it is simply brushed into place. For larger appli­cations, we can also offer 5L and 25L tins which offer substantial cost savings.

To effectively clean surfaces before our grip tape is applied we recommend Heskins H3508 IPA cleaner, it helps to remove contaminants, it does not leave behind a greasy residue unlike methylated spirits, petrol etc. Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) as an alcohol-based cleaner is fast drying, so will leave your application surface clean and dry very quickly. Available in 1-litre bottles, this provides substantial cleaning as only a very small amount is required.
