Vigour of Conference is medium to high and has a stronger branching habit. Flowering is mid-late, with an inclination to mid-season flowering varieties. It bears fruit early (in its third year and yields are excellent every year). Works very well with quince as a rootstock. It is a good pollinator for other varieties. POLLINATORS: Self-fertile. FRUIT APPEARANCE: Elegant, long, bottle shape outline. Skin is thin and glossy, sprayed with spots. The light-green base color, with an overlay of yellow-green shades. The flesh is crisp and juicy becomes softer, more mellow with storage. Sweet and mild flavor at all times. FRUIT SIZE: Medium-large to large. HARVEST: Mid-September - early October

A cross between Golden Delicious and Jonathan, Jonagold tree has a medium vigour. Mid-season flowering, around mid-May. As a triploid variety, it is not a good pollinator and requires two varieties to be pollinated. A spur bearer. POLLINATORS: Idared, Granny Smith, Jonathan, Gala, Golden Delicious FRUIT APPEARANCE: Yellow-green in color, with large stripe flushes of red. The shape is round but elongated, similar to Golden Delicious. The flesh is creamy, yellow color, crisp, and very juicy. It has a tart taste resembling Jonathan and the sweetness of Golden Delicious and it is an overall balanced, excellent, rich, and full flavor. Tree of Butirra variety is medium vigorous to vigorous and flowers mid-early season with a slight inclination to early blooming varieties. A very fertile pear variety that gives yields early in its life cycle and gives substantial yields every year. Diploid variety, and is a good pollinator. POLLINATORS: Santa Maria, Williams. FRUIT APPEARANCE: Skin is smooth, thin and glossy, yellow-green color in base covered in bright red blush on the sunny side. Above that skin is speckled with small and slightly distinct dots. The flesh of Butirra pear is firm, whitish and juicy, sweet-sour in taste, and a very pleasant aroma. FRUIT SIZE: Medium-large to large

Vigour of this variety is medium to strong, and branches follow a spreading and ramified growth structure. It flowers mid-season around 5 days before Golden Delicious. A spur bearer. POLLINATORS: A triploid variety, it is not suitable as a pollinator. Basically any diploid variety with the same blossom date will be a good pollinator like: Gala, Granny Smith, Idared. FRUIT APPEARANCE: Conic in shape, it has weak or no ribbing on the surface. Intensely medium-dark to dark red in color on the whole of the fruit. The flesh is firm but creamy in texture, juicy, sweetsour in taste. FRUIT SIZE: Medium to large in diameter. HARVEST: Early October. Jonaprince is an excellent and reliable yielder.

Growing habit is medium to strong, it has firm and robust branches, spreading growth. Produces early and regular, it is advised to be sufficiently thinned. It is flowering mid-season to late, just after Golden Delicious. POLLINATORS: Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Gala FRUIT APPEARANCE: Shape of this variety is round, spherical. Striped, vibrant red color, also on the shady side. The flesh of this variety is crisp, juicy, and aromatic. Taste is sweet with almost no acidity. High in sugar content. FRUIT SIZE: Medium to large. Even sized. HARVEST: Beginning to middle of October. COMMERCIAL USE: Great looking and sweet dessert apple. Tree withstands frost very well. Highly productive and great storage capability, cold storage until March, and in the CA storage until June.

Our guide welcomes you for a one and a half hour walk through the historical centre of Ghent. You will explore the city in a different way: your senses will be tested and stimulated and you will also get to know the city better. Our guide will give you some explanation of the most important buildings and locations. We will pass by the neighbourhood ‘Gewad’, the Beguinage, Vrijdagmarkt,.. This unique walk is seasonal and will be adapted according the season of the flowers and plants. After the walk we organize a perfume workshop, in collaboration with the perfume house ‘In Fine’, set in a unique art deco building. We start with a personal selection, every participant will be guided and professionally advised and perfumed. In the end we discuss the chosen scents and perfumes with the entire group or in small groups depending on the number of persons. During this excursion, you will be visiting, a banana farm in Funchal, taking the old road to another interesting local family vegetable and fruit farm, a cattle farm that provides most of its milk for the making of our famous “requeijão” cheese, and see the old milking techniques. Stop for lunch in a typical restaurant in the sugar cane region and visit the only rum factory in Europe that operates with steam. After lunch a drive through countryside to see all the flowers in season and drive through the cheese factory.
