Micro-Epsilon offers a wide range of thickness measuring systems for different requirements and fields of application in coating lines. The thicknessCONTROL C-frames are designed for very harsh environments such as in dry coating. Their robust frame and the integrated temperature compensation feature ensure high measurement accuracy even in high ambient temperatures. In addition, the systems are available in different application-specific designs for various film widths with up to 8 measurement tracks.

The high resolution allows linear measurements to be accurately sized even in large measurement ranges. Conversion of rotatory and translational motion by spindles, wires or others is not necessary for direct displacement measurement. Special processes are applied to give the resistance tracks low friction, low tendency to stick/slip, resistance to abrasion and long-term stability. The vibration-cushioned slider allows a clear signal output even by slight shocks or high operating speeds up to 10 m/s.

Due to its high resolution also when measuring long distances, linear displacement measurements up to 900 mm can be carried out. Conversions between rotatory and translation movements through ball screws, wire or cord connections and so on are not necessary for direct displacement measurement. Special processes are applied to give the resistance tracks low friction, low tendency to stick/slip, resistance to abrasion and long-term stability. The rod is guided in a low-play floating frontal bearing. This absorbs small angular and parallel displacements.

Potentiometric displacement sensors are used for direct, precise measurement of mechanical displacements. The mechanical parts of the measuring equipment must be set-up in such a way that the sliding shaft can move without play or lateral forces. A special multi-finger slider ensures good contact even when the adjustment speed is high or in the presence of vibration. With its housing diameter of only 12.7 mm, the model 8709 is also suitable for highly compact structures. The movable fastening clamps allow the user variable options for attaching the sensor without complication. Optionally available adaptations, such as flange and ball joint versions, extend and complement the range of possible applications. The linear transducer model PWA measures the absolute position of the plunger without contact or wear using an inductive resonator measuring system. This consists of an excitation coil which causes an oscillating resonance circuit (moving target) fastened to the plunger to oscillate. This in turn excites the receiver coils fixed in the housing, which are printed on a printed circuit board. The integrated electronics transform these signals (sin/cos) into a signal proportionate to the linear travel. The measuring system is insensitive to electrical and magnetic fields. 0(4) to 20 mA and 0 to 10 VDC are available as standard as analogue signal outputs. CANopen, IO link and SSI are in preparation. The sensor is fastened using at least two retaining clips HK-01 or using sliding blocks ST-01. The sensor can be equipped with ball joints at the front and rear. Alternatively, the sensor's plunger can be designed as a button.

GNOM DP position sensor is designed for measuring axle and cargo load on vehicles with leaf spring suspension. GNOM DP integrates in a fleet monitoring system and transmits data as an analog signal. The tracking device converts this signal in load mass value according to the calibration table. Pressure sensor GNOM DDE is used to determine the axle load in vehicles equipped with air suspension in transport telematics systems. Pressure sensor measures the pressure in the vehicle pneumatic system and transmits data as an analog signal to telematics terminal.

Path measurement can be solved with various sensors. The inductive linear position sensors operate contactless and wear-free according to a revolutionary measuring principle. QuellTech Solution For this purpose, QuellTech offers a perfectly tailored seam tracking solution, which is based on a QuellTech 2D-Laserline Sensor of the Q4 family. The method consists in measurement of the real position and width immediately ahead of the welding process. The laser sensor captures the real dimension of the weld bead, and the software used for this process simultaneously sends the nominal position to the robot. The robot performs a correction movement in X or Z position according to this measurement. This way not only the deviation caused by tolerances, but also the warping effect can be compensated – and the weldment takes place exactly at the required position. The QuellTech 2D-Laserline Sensor is specially prepared to the highly disturbing ambient light from the weld process. It can be cooled and protected from weld spatter, so this model proves to be particularly adequate for operation in the harsh environment of the welding process.

White light interferometers use infrared light in the non-visible range (approx. 840 nm wavelength), which means that the measurement position cannot be seen. To visualize the measuring position, Micro-Epsilon systems are equipped with a pilot laser which projects a light spot onto the measuring position.
