Initiator cables, also referred to as sensor/actuator cables, connect control units and different sensors, or, in the case of reversal of the measurement principle, actuators. Frequently used abbreviations include ini or ini cable (plural: inis). Sensor or measurement transducers transform physical quantities such as rotation, speed, distance or length into analogue electric impulses. In the case of an actuator, the measured electric current (symbol: I, unit: ampere; A) or voltage (symbol: U, unit: volt; V) is transformed into temperature, pressure or torque. The connection cable consists of at least three cores with a small cross-section of between 0.14mm² and 0.34mm². In the simplest case, two cores are required for supplying the voltage, while the last core transmits an I/O signal. For sensitive applications, there are shielded versions in addition to the traditional ini cables to avoid EMC disruptions (electromagnetic compatibility).

Fast and accurate measurements of the smallest resistance values are possible with the milliohmmeter RESISTOMAT® model 2316. Due to the rugged aluminium injection moulding desktop housing with membrane keypad it is suitable for use in laboratory and industrial environment likewise. Wires and coils can be measured with temperature compensation. The sensor complies with the standards of DIN EN 50155 for railway vehicles. It is espacially intended to be used in the on-board network of rail vehicles. Its extrem rugged housing enables applications in harsh conditions in the outskirt area of the vehicle, directly at the bogie. The sensor impresses by its high ruggedness against impact, dust as well as moisture and guarantees high reliability. The device detects accelerations in a measuring range of ± 4g and operates with 110 Volt supply voltage.

The TOR-2 transformer oil express-tester is designed to determine the moisture and hydrogen content in mineral insulating oils and ether based insulating oils. Moisture and hydrogen content is measured in parts per million (ppm). Knowing the content of hydrogen and moisture in the oil, as well as the rate of parameter change, it is possible to detect problems developing in the transformer in advance and to take timely measures to prevent damage to the transformer. Moisture measurement The device measures the activity of the water using a capacitance sensor, which ensures stability over time and contamination resistance. The oil temperature is also measured. The moisture content is calculated from these measurements. Hydrogen measurement A highly selective solid state sensor immersed directly in oil is used to measure hydrogen content. The sensor ensures accuracy and reliability of direct measurements.

The unit is designed to measure the dielectric strength of transformer oil and other dielectric fluids according to IEC 60156, ASTM D877, ASTM D1816. It is a fully automatic device - allows testing according to the procedures defined in these standards, as well as according to the user procedures specified in the appropriate section of the setup menu. The core of the unit is the high voltage transformer and electronic modules. The unit operates by gradually increasing the voltage on the secondary winding of the high voltage transformer from zero to the maximum voltage, or to the voltage at which an electric breakthrough occurs in the dielectric fluid in the measuring cell installed on the high voltage contacts of the transformer. During operation, AC (50-60Hz) voltage is supplied from the secondary winding terminals through the cell electrodes into the dielectric fluid in the measuring cell.
