The RVU grinding machines set new standards in highprecision machining and are especially suitable for high precision grinding applications in the bearing and aerospace industries. The range can be equipped with up to four watercooled grinding spindles which can achieve a performance of 45 kW at 18,000 rev/min. (according to the type of grinding wheel selected) The RVU facilitates a complete machining processing without interruption as optional dressing units, grinding wheel changers and workpiece measurement are available. Additional options for hard metal machining boring and workpiece measurement increase the possible applications of the machine series considerably.

The gauges from the VSL Series measure the form, diameter, roundness and eccentricity of the rolls during the grinding process with very high precision. Form, radial run-out and eccentricity are measures with a precision of ± 1 µm. If an interface is available, they communicate online with the controller of the roll grinding machine and thus enable even more cost-effective use of the grinding machine. With the appropriate configuration, they measure the height and lateral alignment of the roll in the grinding machine before grinding, often enabling the set-up time to be significantly reduced. Vollmer produces the automatic roll measuring gauges for both bench-mounted machines where the roll is moved along the grinding wheel and for support machines where the grinding wheel is moved along the rotating roll. Vollmer supplies the systems for a broad spectrum of roll diameters.

The traversable straddle gauges are used for offline measurement. They are placed onto the roll and moved manually, thereby measuring the form of the rolls from crown edge to crown edge. They are characterised by a high measurement point density of 1 mm and a high repetition accuracy of ± 2 µm. With the evaluation software optimised over decades together with our customers for this application, curves can be pivoted and superimposed, centered and smoothed. Precision forged parts are forged parts where very narrow tolerance can be achieved by following the forging process permanently. Our processes enable forging with the +/- 0.1mm tolerance. The advantage of precision forged parts is that they can be used mostly in different compounds and without additional mechanical machining. Hot die drop forging is the method in our company – sticks are heated and inserted into the appropriate forging tool.After the forging process, we trim and pierce the semi-finished products to meet many shapes and other requirements. In most cases, more complex and larger forgings are further machined.Due to the specificity of precision forgings, we provide the minimum necessary additional machining and thus reduce the machining times.
