Our fast opening domes are designed to offer instant protection and shelter. Our domes are operated by an electric gearbox, and fitted with a manual safety system. This enables them to open extremely fast, in less than a minute. They can open in either single or dual mode (both ways). They are composed of a galvanized steel frame and a heavy-duty PVC-coated fabric cover. Our protective domes are available in standards diameters of 9, 11, 13, 16 and 20 meters. We can adapt their design to match local wind and snow load requirements, so your goods are always well protected.

Our prototypes housed dozens of concerts, events, and a bunch of different situations. Basically, the 9 can be whatever you want it to be. Tested for high winds and extreme atmospheric conditions, the 9 is your mid-sized event rock. Clients have used it as an activation gaming zone, location info points in natural parks and at all kinds of pop-up events, due to our commendable assembly speed. Grouping domes and roofs offer a unique and organically futuristic visual treat for your visitors. Roof 9 can be refitted into Dome 9 with some extra parts.

Typical applications being to understand where insulation needs to be within a building, climate studies and solar monitoring systems. A dome is essentially a window that has two parallel curves faces. Domes are used to shield the thermopile/ sensor used for making the measurements within a Pyranometer. Our domes are polished to high standards having good form error and high clarity with excellent transmission in the UV, NIR and FarIR spectrums allowing for accurate measurement. As UVC sterilisation becomes more prevalent, Knight Optical can offer UV domes to house LEDs and LED arrays, as well as other light sources. We stock ready-to-order 50mm and 100mm UV fused silica domes with high transmission down to 185nm, meaning it encompasses the traditionally used UVC light sources – KCl excimer lamps (222nm), mercury lamps (254nm) and LEDs (265nm, 273nm and 280nm). Knight Optical can also provide custom domes, including with a flange for easier mounting, manufactured from UV fused silica. Also available are optical coatings to enhance the performance of the dome. Quality Assurance All optical components are tested in our state-of-the-art metrology laboratory to ensure they meet every specification, and then 100% visually inspected by our highly trained quality technicians. Knight Optical offer a range of Stock N-BK7 Dome Windows, for use with Underwater Lighting. A dome is an optical window composed of two parallel curved surfaces. Domes are commonly used in defence applications and often in extreme environments such as Submersible ROV’s. The shape of the window creates a naturally strong shape that gets tougher under pressure. Using a curved dome optical surface allows for an increased beam angle, therefore allowing a greater area to be lit from one light source. For visible applications, N-BK7 with its high optical quality and uniform transmission and low absorption in the visible spectrum makes it an ideal material for underwater lighting. A tough and cost effective solution which allows for good transmission of the light source in the underwater environment will both protect the light source as well as transmitting from 300nm up to 2µm.
