Control Panels for electrical process heaters OhmEx has extensive experience in the design of heater control systems and requirements for ‘load splitting’. Loads can also be divided into stages to give thyristor control and in addition combinations of thyristor and contactor control can be supplied to provide a fully synchronised system and limit impact on the power generating system. We can recommend cost-effective solutions to clients, outline requirements, or work to detailed specifications. In-house design facilities are supported by experienced engineers, backed-up by modern CAD facilities. OhmEx adopts an integrated project management approach to each contract, which provides effective co-ordination of design, procurement, manufacture, test and, where required, commissioning. Attention is paid to ensuring that each system is built to the demanding standards of our client, the environment and current legislation. Each control system is fully function-tested for correct operation, as a standard. Each test is simulated using the correct type of input signals to avoid start up and commissioning problems. A range of temperature control systems suitable for anything from small space heating systems to large process heating systems, including full PID control can be offered.

Our fully automated winding centres for fine and self-bonding wire make us the perfect partner for any tasks you require. Our coils are tinned with lead-free coatings (RoHS). We can wind onto any desired coil form using many different press-in ferrite and metallic cores. Multiple tap coils are also possible. Pins are automatically applied to the coil connections during the winding process, with wire drawing electrically controlled. Our winding machines handle single-chamber and multi-chamber coils with wire thicknesses from 0.045 to 0.71 millimetres.

With the ESX-MBC, we present a new CAN-J1939 module especially for the agricultural and construction machine sector, to control electric motors and actuators in a performance range of up to 200 W. It provides four fast PWM half bridges (each 10 A) with current measurement and two further digital power outputs (each 4 A). Of these, two half bridges respectively, which can be combined to form one motor full bridge, and one digital output are supplied via a safety relay (max. 15 A per safety relay). The module also possesses four multifunction inputs, one module identification output, one digital output and one fixed voltage output for sensor supply. All analog signals are processed with a 12-bit resolution.

Space-saving, compact – but rugged nonetheless The TRY50 series covers the transition from finger- to hand-size joysticks. This is realized by a construction of the very robust mechanism combined with space-saving Hall sensors. The TRY50 was specifically developed for applications, where a rugged hand joystick is needed, but space is limited. The optimized dimensioning of the mechanism and control lever make it possible to use the joystick in environments, where only finger joysticks would fit, but lack the needed load resistance. The joystick is equipped with Hall sensors and thus shows only minimal drift of the output signal over many years of operation. Optionally, redundant sensors can be chosen to further increase reliability.

Inherently RFI/EMC immune and most flexible in its class The joysticks of the series 842 exhibit properties, which are normally found in bigger joystick models only, even though it is a very compact finger joystick. Particularly worth mentioning is the possibility to configure the three axes independently and the option for a friction clutch in x and/or y-axis. The series is equipped with potentiometers, because potentiometers are still the best choice if EMI/RFI resistance requirements are very high. The joysticks are available with up to 3 axes, and exhibit a robust mechanical metal mechanism. This way the return properties of the x and y-axis can be changed by e.g. using a stronger or weaker spring, or by using a friction clutch.

The joysticks of the TRY100 series cover a great variety of different applications due to their high number of configuration options, and convince technically in every respect The TRY100 is the all-rounder in the field of finger joysticks because of the extensive selection of handles, limiters and output options. Optionally, redundant sensors are available. Thus, the joysticks can be optimized for almost all possible applications. With the convenient plug-in contact and the small installation depth of < 26 mm, the joystick offers unequalled opportunities in case of space-limitations below the panel. Due to its modern contact-less hall-sensors, the electro mechanics guarantee for a long mechanical life expectancy of 5 million operations. The construction is laid-out for a load resistance up to 200 N, and improved handle options offer protection up to IP67 above the panel.

Unbeatable small installation depth and the highest stability in its class. The joysticks of the series 844 exhibit properties, which are normally found in heavy-duty products only, even though it is a very compact finger joystick. For example, with handle "T" the 844 becomes the most compact stock grip joystick with push button (see picture above in the center). In this configuration, the 844 has the advantage over larger models of lower price and space requirements. The joysticks of the series 844 are equipped with wear-less Hall Effect sensors, are available with up to 3 axes, and exhibit a robust mechanical construction, with a ball-socket pivot. It withstands high push, pull, translational and rotational forces, up to a load of 400 N (vertically). The operational lifetime is up to 10 million operations. With protection up to IP65, a variety of handle shapes, limiters and output options, the optimum product can be selected for the application.

High-quality haptics for one-dimensional control tasks The proportional rockers of the PW30 series meet the highest demands on quality and reliability for long-term use in industrial environments. With the look of a rocker switch but the sensor technology of industrial joysticks, the PW30 series combines the advantages of joysticks (for transmitting an analogue control variable) with those of toggle switches (flat design, low space requirement). In addition to two different rocker shapes, choices between potentiometric or Hall-effect sensor technology, as well as between spring return to the centre position or to the end position, are possible. Redundant versions are also available on request.

The thumb joysticks of the TRY14 series cover a great variety of different applications due to their high number of configuration options The TRY14 is the all-rounder in the field of thumb joysticks because of the extensive selection of handles, limiters and output options. The size of these joysticks can be compared with the ones that are widely used in gamepads, but the TRY14 is integrated into an industrial-suited housing with a reliable mechanism. Typical applications range from remote controls, arm rest integration or integration into larger joystick handles to industrial or medical robot arms.

The medium-sized hand joysticks of the 870 series with stock grip handle were specially developed for the multi-axis control of machines in demanding applications with highest requirements on quality and feel. The joysticks are a guarantee for success in demanding applications with up to three axes, where quality, durability and reliability are paramount. The precision manufacturing of the joystick results in a particularly high-quality feel that conveys a safe operating feeling and enables the user to precisely control movements in several dimensions. Thanks to the non-contact Hall effect technology and the optional double outputs, the joysticks are extremely reliable and safe to use even in the toughest conditions. The joystick is electrically connected via a 12-pin connector, which enables easy installation. The installation depth of <49 mm is particularly advantageous when space is limited.

Reliable switching with spring return mechanism thanks to the 851 joystick with good price/performance ratio The series 851 switch sticks feature a functional but space-saving design. The optimized mechanics, including a stainless steel metal shaft, combined with micro switches allow for reliable switching for currents up to 10 A and voltages up to 240 V, while only taking less than 24 mm space below the panel. The spring return mechanism guarantees for safe control of the application. A cross- and one-dimensional limiter are both supplied with the shipment. The protection is IP65 above the panel. On request, switches with gold-plated contacts are available for corrosive surroundings.

The adaptability of the sensors in the premium joystick series 826 is unequalled in the field of joysticks The joystick series 826 fulfils the highest demands on quality. It shows its strengths at challenging applications with up to 2 axes, where no compromises are made when it comes to endurance and reliability, and the application asks for special sensor configurations. Die configuration options of the series 826 are unique: both axes exhibit a separated shaft for the sensors, so that the sensors, micro switches and return mechanism (spring return/friction clutch) can be adjusted individually. Especially for safety critical applications, this series is often the only series that offers the necessary options to fulfil the requirements.

Unique: The TRY20 offers 3 axes and is still a compact thumb joystick The joysticks of the TRY20 series are unique in their class thanks to their rotatable knob, which, as a z-axis, offers an additional third, proportional degree of freedom for controlling the application. The industrial joysticks achieve the highest level of quality in terms of mechanics, materials and workmanship. The high-quality haptics convey a secure operating feeling and enable the user to precisely control movements in several dimensions. Double (redundant) outputs are optionally available, which enable use in safety-critical applications. Variants with protection class IP40 (hardcover) and sealed variants (rubber bellows) with protection class IP54 are available. If the z-axis (the rotatable knob) is not required, the 2-axis version with protection class IP65 can be implemented as a special version.
