The DC-voltage converters developed for the electronic components in the motor car are characterised by their ease of installation in every vehicle. The high degree of stability, the compact design, sustained short-circuit resistance as well as the high level of operating safety are the quality hallmarks of this series. The areas of application span the mobile employment of 12-V-consumers in vehicles with a 24-V-onboard network. The devices are particularly suitable for operating car radios, stereo units, radios, cooler units, car telephones, computers, 12-V-trailer lighting etc. The voltage converter converts an input direct voltage into an output direct voltage. The input voltage must be greater than the output voltage. No base load is required at the output end. A 26 kHz PWM switching controller is used for this purpose. Input and output are not isolated. The common earth is connected with the voltage converter housing.

The amplifier module model 9243 is used wherever measurement signals from strain gauges, potentiometric sensors or DC/DC sensors have to be converted into standard signals. Simply by mounting on conventional DIN-mount rails, it is possible to position the amplifier module on location, in the proximity of the sensor. Especially for rough environments a IP65 version is available. The broad auxiliary power range and the choice between AC or DC permits operation on standard power supplies used in switch gear cabinets. A highly precise reference voltage source is built-in for calibration purposes. A calibrating shunt can also be connected via two separate terminals. This permits deliberate detuning of a strain gauge sensor for calibration or merely to check the measuring chain.

Thanks to the intelligent combination of DC fans with a fully integrated AC/DC converter, AC fans can now be operated at speeds that are independent of the power frequency. Up to 4500 rpm can be realized and the flow rate significantly increased if required. The EC generation in the dimensions 80mm to 280mm and with several different speeds replaces the previous AC fans in situtations where there is no DC voltage available and requires less power in the process. The previous AC fans can be replaced without restriction as the EC fans have identical dimensions and thickness. The versions that are smaller than 180mm have a wide-range input and can be connected without problem, worldwide to all AC voltage networks without need for further adaptation. This is underlined by the UL approval of the entire fan series.

The CAN-USB/2 module is an intelligent CAN interface with an ARM 7 microcontroller for the local management of CAN data. The module supports the USB 2.0 High Speed interface with data rates of 480 Mbit/s. The ISO 11898-compliant CAN interface allows a data transfer rate of a maximum of 1 Mbit/s. The CAN interface is electrically isolated from other potentials by means of a digital isolator and a DC/DC converter. Software drivers for Windows® 2K/XP/Vista/7/8 (32/64 bit) are included in delivery. Linux® kernel ≥ 2.6 is supported via Linux CAN (SocketCAN) and NTCAN wrapper library. Drivers for other operating systems are available on request. The firmware can be updated from the PC. Updates are available on the esd website. Libraries for the higher layer protocols CANopen and J1939 are available. Additional free-of-charge esd CAN tools for Windows offer efficient setup and analysis of CAN applications and networks.
