In addition to filtration, compressed-air drying contributes significantly to an increase in process reliability. Humidity in compressed-air systems causes corrosion, and promotes the growth of micro-organisms. In individual cases, condensate emerges at the point of use - an ongoing danger for the operational flow, for example because of failing pneumatic controls, increased wear and tear or because of other disturbances in the production process. With considerably enhanced process reliability, the DRYPOINT dryer technology offers decisive advantages for every field of application. The BEKO TECHNOLOGIES portfolio comprises application-optimised refrigeration, adsorption and membrane dryers for volumes up to 1,500 m³/h. This range of dryers is completed by heat-regenerated EVERDRY adsorption dryers which are designed for large volume flows up to 20,000 m³/h.

DRYING CONTROL UNIT DA 4 QUBEThe overdrive for your low-pressure insulation drying operation Smaller, lighter and considerable time saving along the way – based on the Qube+’s development objective we now also designed an apposite drying control unit. The particularly compact drying control unit is tailored perfectly to the Qube+ and can be connected to it in just a few steps. In doing so, an elaborate intermediate hose connection with water separator is no longer necessary, this simplifies the installation and saves both time and material. DA 4 Qube: Perfect for the Qube+ – and it can be combined well with all other insulation dryers from your stock due to the optional DA adapter plate.

The ventilation dryers of the GRANIVENT™ series are the ideal supplement to GRANIFRIGOR™ grain dryers. They are used to aerate the grain immediately after harvesting. Subsequent cooling with a GRANIFRIGOR™ ensures that the grain is not damaged by insects or fungi. The POWDRYER™ PD08 metal powder dryer is used to dry inorganic metal powder for the complex additive manufacturing (3D printing) process. It corrects the manufacturer’s fluctuating metal powder qualities, thus optimizing the metal powder’s flowability. It also reduces the number of air inclusions in finished workpieces. Significantly higher material densities are the result. The Combined Fluidization Technology dryer (CFT dryer) offers an economic process for sticky products. CFT dryers combine the advantages of convective fluidized bed drying with contact drying. The CFT works with a hot mechanically fluidized bed. The feed material is distributed into this bed. It is fluidized by a rotating paddle system. Inside the fluidized bed the wet product is evenly distributed throughout the dry product. The volatiles evaporate instantly in contact with the hot particles, i.e. new solids are created at the location of evaporation. CFT dryers allow the handling of products, which cannot be handled in other types of contact dryers. Highly viscous, pasty, sticky, crust-forming states do not exist.

The granulation dryer is designed for continuous operation. A unique property of this dryer is its combination of convection and contact drying. Adaptation of the retention time to the specific process ensures that products are dried at low temperatures. At the same time, excellent granulation of the final product can be achieved. This intense mixing effect separates the particles in the fluid bed, thereby creating a large product surface and preventing the generation of temperature and moisture gradients in the product bed. This leads to a significant increase in the heat exchange via the heated drum walls. The product behaviour during drying is affected by the mixing tool geometry and choppers can be activated as an option; these can be used to control the average product retention time and the retention time distribution. It is therefore possible to achieve a defined grain size distribution during granulation processes

The laboratory vacuum shovel dryer DRUVATHERM® is a system provides reliable scale-up to production scales in the context of product and process development and can likewise be used for small batch production too. The Lödige laboratory vacuum shovel dryer DRUVATHERM® is a horizontal, batch vacuum dryer with a frequency-controlled mixing tool. This mixer consisting of mixing elements adapted to the process and arranged on a shaft according to a specific system - is installed in a cylindrical mixing drum equipped with a temperature control jacket. Rotation of the mixing unit generates a three-dimensional product movement, in which all of the product is constantly in motion. The contact frequency of particles with the heat exchange surface leads to shorter drying times. The chopper rotating at high speeds fitted to the side of the mixing drum is used to disperse the product . This leads to a significant increase in drying capacity and prevents moisture and temperature gradients.

Lödige shovel dryers are batch vacuum dryers. The mixing elements are frequency-controlled for ideal adaptation to the process. Special rotating mixing elements, installed in a cylindrical drum equipped with a temperature control jacket, create a three-dimensional product movement . The resulting contact frequency of the particles with the heat exchange surface leads to incredibly short drying times. The intelligent product movement ensures intense contact of individual product particles with the heated container wall while also providing very gentle product treatment. The chopper rotating at high speeds is used to disperse the product during transition between phases. Product surfaces are opened up during this process. This leads to a significant increase in drying capacity and prevents moisture and temperature gradients. Fine particles pulled along by solvent vapours are separated in the filter and returned to the product bed through pneumatic filter cleaning.

SMS offers sludge drying systems with horizontal thin film dryers for treatment of sludge from municipal as well as from industrial waste water treatment plants. Variations of this sludge treatment process are: Pre-drying up to 35 to 50 % dry solid content before incineration in fluidized bed incinerators 65 to 75 % dry solid content before combined incineration with garbage, composting or landfill Full drying up to 85 to 95 % before thermal utilization as bio-fuel for cement kilns, coal fired power stations, pyrolysis, gasification or other conversion processes before composting and agricultural usage as fertilizer and for soil reclamation In all these drying processes the thin film dryer is the first choice.

The wet product fed through the inlet nozzle is picked up by the rotor blades, applied on the hot wall and simultaneously conveyed towards the outlet nozzle at the opposite end of the body. The generated vapours are streaming counter-currently to the product flow and are leaving the dryer close to the feed nozzle. Evaporating and conveying capacity are adapted by the right rotor blade arrangement. Entrained particles from the dry zone are removed in the wet zone. Moisture levels of less than 1 % can be achieved. The residence time of the product is typically between 5 and 15 minutes. The outstanding heat transfer rate for hot solid products enables cooling of large amounts of solids in a compact machine compared to usually used cooling screws and without cooling air.In product melting like the melting of urea, the particles are heated up and molten inside the dryer. The melt can be mixed with other liquid and solid additives to improve the properties of the final products.

The vertical thin film dryer consists of a cylindrical, vertically arranged body with heating jacket and a rotor inside. The rotor is equipped with rows of pendulum blades all over the length of the dryer. The hinged blades spread the wet feed product in a thin product layer over the heated wall and mix the product layer material intensively. Therefore the volatile components evaporate continuously from the product layer with high evaporation rates. The hinged blades are designed with a minimum gap to prevent fouling of the heating surface by product, but are never in contact with the heated wall. The product enters the dryer at its top. The evaporation starts after heating to the boiling point. In the slurry zone first solids are formed and with advancing evaporation of the volatiles and continued shearing by the hinged blades the paste breaks up to powder. The final solid product is discharged by gravity at the bottom of the dryer via a suitable air lock.

Lödige has years of expertise in continuous granulation. Nowadays, continuous ringlayer mixers are established systems for continuous granulation in many industries. However, until now the Lödige product range was missing a suitable dryer. The continuous fluid bed dryer closes this gap. Together with the ringlayer mixer CoriMix® and the customer-specific dosing system, this dryer provides a complete continuous granulation line: GRANUCON®. Dryer operation is based on the fluid bed process. A general disadvantage of continuous fluid beds is the wide retention time distribution within the machine. Lödige’s developers have looked into this problem and have found a solution: integrating a screw in the fluid bed dryer. WATER SEPARATOR WA 4I MULTIQUBEWater separator WA 4i for combination with MultiQube insulation layer dryers The new WA 4i is provided with an integrated micro filter system with low-maintenance magnetic lock filter compartment to take in micro filter cartridges with a threefold filter element. This makes the WA 4i a versatile integral solution with all pre-HEPA filter stages in only one device. Advantage: improved flow-optimized filter technology, quicker setup, decreased material and space requirements – no separate additional micro filter housings required. In order to introduce an appropriate pressure, a centrifugal fan is imperative. If a fan is equipped with a frequency control, the system can be optimally regulated.

Condensate temperature control The Atmoset SMT regulates the residual moisture of the tissue with steam-heated cylinder dryers. The deviation of the condensate temperature from a preset setpoint is used to directly calculate the amount of energy required for drying. The heating output is optimised according to the product. INOX® gloss dryer is a product composed of special wetting agents, which is quickly absorbed by the paint and causes the water film to disappear quickly. The paint gets an even gloss and an optimal color deepening. The cationic surfactants cause the special waxes to be deposited in a thin layer on the paint surfaces and to spread evenly as a film. The applied special waxes are hard and therefore give the paint surfaces a long-lasting protective film.
