In teams of 4 persons, participants make a tour by boat from the historical centre from Ghent to Sint-Martens-Latem and back. Each team will gets its own boat (maximum capacity: 4 persons per boat) at disposal for 3 hours. Each team appoints a captain who will be responsible. Each member of the team will take over the steering. A sailing license is not required! This exciting and original rally on the water is not focused on speed but requires full concentration and attention of all team members. Please pay attention to all details you will discover on the way… We end the program in a nice pub where the winning team will be rewarded and where we will have a drink. About the Boat trip Ghent: river cruise ‘De Gentse Barge’! A boat trip on the Lys River as from Ghent towards Deurle with a historical ship from the 18th century! Welcome by our guide on a location chosen by you in the centre of Ghent (parking, hotel,…). We start our evening with a guided walk through the historical centre of Ghent, city of Charles QUint. During this walk of about 1.5 hours we will see the most important curiosities of the city: ‘Vrijdagsmarkt’ with statue of Jacob Van Artevelde, St. Bavo Cathedral, St Michel’s Bridge, Graslei and Korenlei and many more,… We end our walk at the ‘Gentse Barge’, situated close to the Palace of Justice. in the middle of the 1990s Captain Andre De Wilde and Walter De Buck took the initiative to realize their common dream: ‘to se a barge sailing again on the waters in and around Ghent’. A fun discovery tour of Ghent during 3 hours by making use of 3 different types of transport ! We start with a discovery tour of the historical city center of Ghent by horse carriage during 1 hour (capacity horse carriage: between 14 and 18 persons per carriage) We end our tour at the quay of the boat company situated along the beautiful Korenlei. By boat we make a guided tour during 40 minutes and see the mediaeval city through a different angle. Short guided walk direction the impressive Castle of the Counts where we board a historic tram for a 45-60 minutes drive during which we will cross the city centre and outskirts (Muide, Rabot, Coupure,…).
