The valve isolates pumps from the system during pumps starting and stopping to protect pipe lines and pumps itself. The valve is equipped with a control solenoid valve that is switched on at pump starting and is able to fulfill pipe line gradually, reducing pressure rising peaks and allowing soft starting of the pump with closed outlet. The valve controls pump stopping as well, gradually closing before sending a closing signal to the pump. In case of casual pump stop, the valve acts also as an automatic check valve, preventing backflow over the impeller.

To avoid the backflow of materials up to category 4 into the drinking water installation, the backflow preventer BA (acc. to DIN EN 1717 a “backflow preventer with a controllable middle pression area”) is used as an approved safety device.
