The company was founded by Philipp Jacob Knoth. It is therefore one of the oldest companies in Solingen and can look back on a long tradition. August Knoth Sr., the son of the company founder, took over the business, in which leather sheaths with metal fittings have been hand-crafted for industrial customers in Solingen. The company underwent its first modernisation under the leadership of the new owners Friedrich Paul and August Knoth. Firstly, they began with the machine-based production of the existing items.
