Portrait of the SGL Carbon site in Wackersdorf: The SGL Carbon site in Wackersdorf, in the Upper Palatinate, is part of the Carbon Fibres division. Here, about 140 highly-qualified staff deal with the production of mats and non-woven fabrics from carbon, glass or natural fibres. The diverse product range of over 150 product variants is rounded off with the subsequent process step of stacking. This involves superimposing different layers of mats, cutting them into stacks and joining them, all per customer specification. These stacks are then processed by the customer to produce preforms or finished components. Every year, SGL Carbon produces over 8, 000 tons of carbon, glass or natural fibre mats at the Wackersdorf site. The site also boasts three stacking machines with a capacity of over 2 million stacks per year. The products from Wackersdorf are used in a wide range of sectors, albeit primarily in the automotive and aerospace industries. Several recycling facilities serve to recycle the production waste that cannot be avoided in the process. All the facilities are powered by green electricity. Belrey Fibres SA is a family owned textile recycling company with state-of-the-art machinery and is based in Mouscron, Belgium. Our recycled fibres in polypropylene, polyester and nylon serve a wide variety of end uses such as nonwovens for various industries : automotive, geotextiles, drainage, isolation, compounding and yarn spinning. Another recovery route is regranulation and compounding, which transforms thermoplastic textile waste into granules to manufacture plastic parts. Sustainability is at the heart of the Belrey Fibres strategy. To meet the environmental challenges, we defined an innovative organization with a team that is united around a passion for recycling. As a cost-effective and “greener” alternative to virgin materials, recycled synthetic fibres serve as secondary material for nonwovens. Through our customized blending and processing equipment we are able to produce clean and homogenous fibres. As we are one of the leading global companies in our area, we have access to fibres worldwide. By working together with our suppliers, we help them to divert textile material from landfill and to save costs for waste disposal. The recovery of waste materials as a secondary resource helps to cut down raw material expenses. We try to understand what you want to achieve and are able to develop a custom-made solution.

As a leading specialist, solidian develops and products non-metallic reinforcements made from carbon glass or basalt fibres. The reinforcements are available in bar or mesh form. The fields of application for our reinforcement solutions range from facade panels through bridge construction and maritime construction to restorations. If necessary, solidian supports you at every stage of your projects, from application consulting through the calculation of reinforcements to assistance on the building site. In our in-house test laboratory, we also determine the necessary parameters for you individual building projects.
