The CSN® type RCVoltage Dividers consist of a proven reliable and high accuracy resistivecapacitive voltage divider. These are used for voltage measurement for control and protection systems in HVDC links and research institutes. The base for our Voltage Dividers are metal wire resistor webs that have been embedded in epoxy resin under vacuum. In this way, optimal protection against external influences can be achieved. Depending on the installation requirements (outdoor or indoor application), special designs of the voltage dividers adapted on the site requirements are used. The CSN® HECT, HEVT and HECT/VT by Schniewindt combines proven sensor technology and opticaldigital data transfer according to the standard IEC 6185092, creating a future orientated solution for applications in high voltage AC substations. The required values to be measured are recorded in analog signal form by conventional sensor elements (R/C high voltage divider for voltage measurement and Rogowski coil for current measurement) on HVline potential and transferred to the RemoteDataModule (RDM) mounted in the head construction of the instrument transformer. The RDM converts the recorded data into a digital serial protocol and transmits them via optical fiber to the Merging Unit (MU), located in the control room. When we refer nowadays to a potentiometer as a sensor, it is important to bear in mind the statements made here only apply if the potentiometer is connected as voltage divider rather than as a variable resistor (rheostat) (Fig. 2). The wiper voltage must be connected, free of load, to an operational amplifier such as a 741, OP 07 or some other component with a high input impedance. Fig. 3 explains the terms used, such as electrical and mechanical travel. L1 indicates the defined electrical travel. The A240S-5K voltage detector is a voltage sensor based on a capacitive divider principle.
