All individually QA checked and metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customer specification. The path length and window material are chosen for analysis of different concentrations and types of gas. Depending on the types of gases being analysed, the windows in a gas cell can be made from NaCl, KBr, CaF2, BaF2, or ZnSe and will be chosen depending on bandwidth, to meet the customer’s application. Hydrophobic means to repel water. Applying a hydrophobic coating to a surface can help the surface repel dirt and residue for easier cleaning. These types of coatings also have an oleophobic property, meaning that oil and grease is also repelled. Knight Optical provide Hydrophobic Coatings to wide range of protective windows made from materials such as BK7 or equivalent, UV Fused Silica or Borosilicate. Benefits for hydrophobic are that is: Optically Clear Easy-to-Clean Fingerprint and Smudge resistant The properties of the optical component itself remain unaltered meaning it does to hinder its current application or require a redesign. This coating would be a custom item and can be applied to most of our stock optical components. Knight Optical are very experienced within the Thermal Imaging market, including anti-reflective and diamond-like-carbon coatings used on the optical components in these systems. Knight Optical know exactly what you are looking for. Thermal imaging uses infrared materials such as Germanium and Silicon, however in there raw form the transmission is not the best it could be. For example, Germanium typically transmits at <45% but with an AR coating applied, it can improve transmission to >60%. This increase in transmission means that the camera sensor receives a better signal through the protective window. Also with protective windows, we can provide high quality DLC coatings. We ensure the coating is Salt Fog Tested to MIL-SPEC standard to ensure that the coating withstands harsh environments. Gas Detection Systems use Interference Bandpass Filters to identify the emission of a type of gas. Different gases emit at a specific wavelength which makes it identifiable when using a relevant Interference Bandpass Filter. These wavelengths are: Carbon Monoxide (CO) @ 4.73μm Nitric Oxide (NO) @ 5.24μm Nitrogen Dioxide (NO₂) @ 6.17μm Sulphur Dioxide (SO₂) @ 7.42μm Hydrogen Chloride (HCl) @ 3.55μm Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) @ 10.7μm Knight Optical provide a wide range of interference bandpass filters that can be used with gas detection. The Interference Bandpass Filters would be need to transmit in the infrared region. These would be a customised item, which we are very experienced in. We provide narrow, standard, broadband and extra broadband filters with a high optical density of 4 as standard, however this can be customised for you. For more information read PDF
