As UVC sterilisation becomes more prevalent, Knight Optical can offer UV domes to house LEDs and LED arrays, as well as other light sources. We stock ready-to-order 50mm and 100mm UV fused silica domes with high transmission down to 185nm, meaning it encompasses the traditionally used UVC light sources – KCl excimer lamps (222nm), mercury lamps (254nm) and LEDs (265nm, 273nm and 280nm). Knight Optical can also provide custom domes, including with a flange for easier mounting, manufactured from UV fused silica. Also available are optical coatings to enhance the performance of the dome. Quality Assurance All optical components are tested in our state-of-the-art metrology laboratory to ensure they meet every specification, and then 100% visually inspected by our highly trained quality technicians. Knight Optical prides itself on the quality of our optical components, and you can be confident that our products will fit seamlessly into your UVC system.

Knight Optical offer a range of Stock Achromatic Doublet Lenses for use within Holography. Holography can be said to be a photographic recording of a light field, like an audio recording. This recording is typically 3 dimensional and does not require the use of any special equipment e.g. glasses or headset to view. These images are produced using laser light which are passed through a recording medium which “records” the depth an arrangement of the final image. Achromatic Doublets are used in holographic systems & correct for chromatic aberrations which exist in singlet lenses. This is when different wavelengths of light refract at different rates. The doublet lens helps to correct this by facilitating the focusing of the light to the same point. In holographic systems the aim is to form an image which is as close to real life as possible. Therefore, it is critical for the image to be as clear as possible and free from distortions and aberrations. Read PDF for more info

Diamond turning is an Aspherics best friend! Knight Optical can supply you with a custom made Diamond turned aspheric lenses. Diamond turned aspheric optical lenses are typically used in missile guidance systems, night vision/thermal Imaging cameras and other military based optics and commercial infrared systems (IR). The benefit of Diamond Turned Aspheric optics, are that lens shapes can be manufactured very accurately without an expensive tooling cost except for the diamond bit; and is cost efficient for small quantities. Which are ideal for use within the Defence and Aerospace Industry. Knight Optical offers diamond turned aspherics from a range of infrared materials including Germanium (Ge), Calcium Fluoride (CaF₂), Zinc Sulphide (ZnS), Zinc Selenide (ZnSe), Aluminium (Al) and chalcogenide glasses like AMTIR (Ge33As12Se55 ). Our uncoated Precision Ball Lenses can be achieve a very high level of yield of magnification & are widely used for focusing & coupling light into and out of Microscopes. We can offer these in Sapphire, made from Al2O3, and BK7 or equivalent material. Sapphire allows for superior optical transmission qualities The key feature of ball lenses is their short back focal length allowing for precision coupling where size or space is a limiting factor in the system & therefore ideal in the use of Microscopes or microscopic attachments onto devices such as mobile phones. Ball Lenses are manufactured from a single substrate of glad and therefore, depending on the geometry of the input source, can focus or collimate light. Half Ball Lenses can also be used as an interchange with a full ball lens for more compact designs. Read the PDF for more information....
