Knight Optical can offer dichroic bandblocking filters for use in Fluorescence Microscopy. We supply a range of dichroic bandblocking filters for a range of applications. All individually QA checked and metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customer specification. Supplied in a range of sizes and shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications. Knight Optical supply precision optical components to customers in fluorescence microscopy. Dichroic bandblocking filters are used to block a specific wavelength band and transmit the rest. Our Dichroic bandblocking filters are usually made for bands between 300-1200nm. Knight Optical can offer Custom Homogenizing Rods for use within Fluorescence Imaging. Knight Optical supply precision optical components to customers in the medical industry for applications such as fluorescence illumination, microscopy and imaging. Homogenizing Rods are used within the application of surgical procedures; within systems designed to help identify which tissues have been exposed to the fluorescent indicator. The Light source will enter a light pipe at a variety of incident angles, which is designed to utilise its total internal reflection to channel the light from the entrance of the light pipe to the exit. The material’s refractive index is the only factor which affects the light pipes critical angle; this defines the angle of acceptance which the total internal reflection will occur at. Sapphire (Al2O3) is one of the hardest minerals and optical materials available for use in the range from UV up to 5µm. Sapphire is birefringent and if its use is for critical optical application then the crystal might have to be cut along the zero degree plane, or C-Cut. Random cut is usually cut along a plane that is 60° off-axis as the growth in this direction is the easiest to grow. Random cut is anything that is not the C-Cut angle. Sapphire can fluoresce depending upon the concentration of other minerals within the lattice, for example Iron (Fe) or Chromium (Cr). Clear Sapphire might fluoresce orange when illuminated by UV light if impurities are in the crystal. Need to measure the fluorescent properties of a component with your Spectrometer but you feel like something’s missing? Maybe it’s Knight Optical range of Stock Dichroic Filters, ideal for use within Fluorescence Microscopy and Spectroscopy. For Fluorescence Microscopy and Spectroscopy, dichroic filters are used as beam splitters within the microscope system. They are used as an edge filter at a tilted angle of incidence (typically 45°) to direct the illumination of an excitation frequency towards the sample of interest, and then at an analyser to reject the same excitation frequency but passes a particular emission frequency. Dichroic filters offer superior contrast between transmitted and reflected wavelengths; having negligible absorption. Having a dielectric coating they are perfect for high power applications and they do not show the strong fluorescence of certain glass filters. For more information read the PDF
