They will be qualified, sufficiently experienced & skilled to fully operate the service, including its maintenance. This role involves maintenance of records, quality of service and system safety (integrity) and overseeing routine testing of the water, storage & distribution system. This course is ideal for those who are not directly involved with the operation and maintenance of water systems, but still require an understanding of Legionella and the risk posed by this bacteria and what can be done to minimise the risk. Water Safety Plan [WSP], defined in BS8680 as… ‘strategic plan which defines & documents the arrangements that are required for the safe use & management of all water systems together with all associated systems & equipment within each building or estate to prevent harm arising from all forms of exposure’. Depending on the type & size of your organisation the scope & content of the WSP will vary. The initial steps in the development of a WSP is understanding the water related risks, the need to have identified and assessed those water related risks within a building or across an entire estate. This baseline of the water risks allows the development of the associated processes to be defined, outlining applicable arrangements to ensure the safe use of, and management of the water systems and associated equipment initially identified.

The audit process draws on the management requirements of the HSE's ACoP (L8) and HTM 04-01 & HTM 03-01 (where appropriate). Fire resistant, Low Smoke Toxicity EPDM from J-Flex is supplied, tested & fully certified to EN45545-2, and has been approved to the former National Standards BS 6853, DIN5510 & NF F 16-101 + other Major Standards including LUL S1085 Specifications + BS 476 + UL94 V(0) & NFPA 130 ( U.S. National Fire Protection Association). In addition it has been independently tested & certified to EN 13501-1 Fire Classification of construction products & building elements. EPDM, Silicone, Natural Rubber, Neoprene Sponge & Vamac® Ethylene Acrylic Elastomer materials from J-Flex have been independently tested & certified against some or all of the above norms. These materials all have excellent environmental resistance withstanding ozone, u.v., rain & frost – meaning outdoor applications such as lighting systems and enclosures are kept water and dust-tight. Our materials are also resistant to corrosion, moisture, salt & light fuels.

Today, we’re trusted by many blue chip companies in the oil, gas and shipping industries to supply them with high quality electrical safety matting. Over the years we’ve successfully exported electrical rubber switchboard matting to over 20 countries worldwide. All of our rubber insulating mats are then rigorously independently tested to comply with all the following specifications: European IEC61111, BS921, VDEO303 & American ASTM D178. As there is no time definition as to when the electrical safety matting should be replaced unless an electrical shock has occurred then it should be replaced immediately. The flutes are also a useful indicator of when the rubber matting should be replaced – just keep an eye out for any signs of wear over time. We also supply electrical safety matting with a smooth finish. Again, once this starts showing signs of wear just give us a call to arrange a replacement.
