Our design team use the very latest Computer Aided Design software which can illustrate both 2D and 3D images of the fabrics. This reduces the time taken to show designs to customers as well as reducing the cost of sampling. Having designed fabrics we can illustrate how they would look on furniture or in a garment. Complicated weaves can be seen in cross-section. We have access to ranges of coloured yarns from around the world and keep many colours in stock. Our laminated scrims offer the option of delivering added benefits to the main reinforcement properties of our products. Some attributes to be considered are surface smoothness, dimensional stability, permeability, conductivity, UV protection, and in some cases, fire retardant improvement. With flexibility in mind, we offer a full range of widths, lengths and colour options to suit your specific needs. James Dewhurst manufacture a wide range of laid scrims. Laid scrims are exactly what they say: weft yarns are simply laid across a bottom warp sheet, then trapped with a top warp sheet. The whole structure is then coated with an adhesive to bond the warp and weft sheets together creating a robust construction. This is achieved through a manufacturing process, which was developed in house, that allows manufacture of wide width scrims at widths up to 5.2m, at high speed and excellent quality.
