Within medicine the use of polarised light was first introduced back in the70’s; since then it has come leaps and bounds. How it has been used to help with imaging skin pathologies, when the skin is illuminated by linearly polarised light it causes backscattering of the superficial layers of the skin where cancer often arises. This superficial backscattered light can be distinguished from the diffused reflected light when using a detector. Polarised Beam-Splitter Cubes, Sheet Linear Polarisers, and Sheet Circular Polarisers are often used within detection devices for this type of skin pathology imaging. Pleated blinds are slim, elegant and discreet. As they are made to measure, they are a perfect fit blind. A strong aluminium headrail supports fabric, that concertinas into aesthetically pleasing 20mm wide pleats, giving a beautifully pleated pattern to windows of all shapes and sizes. Pleated blinds can be simply raised or lowered to the desired position, with either a cord locking mechanism or a tab and spring. They are particularly suitable for areas with limited space, and where window sills need to remain clutter-free. Pleated blinds are perfect when mounted close to the glass on UPVC windows, doors and conservatories. Their clean, crisp lines diffuse light entering a room, but also provide full privacy from the outside, should this be required. A wide selection of fabrics are available, with many featuring special solar, reflective properties, designed to keep rooms cool and protected from harmful UV rays.
