Microlouvre Koolshade® metal fabric is only 1.55mm and each louvre measures only 1.25mm x 0.30mm, as thick as a human hair. The fabric has an open area of 80% and weighs just over a kilo per square metre unpainted.

James Dewhurst manufacture a wide range of laid scrims. Laid scrims are exactly what they say: weft yarns are simply laid across a bottom warp sheet, then trapped with a top warp sheet. The whole structure is then coated with an adhesive to bond the warp and weft sheets together creating a robust construction. This is achieved through a manufacturing process, which was developed in house, that allows manufacture of wide width scrims at widths up to 5.2m, at high speed and excellent quality. Our Sewing Facility in Macclesfield converts both our own fabric into finished garments and fabric supplied from elsewhere. Whitecroft Cotton covered Steel Boning is still made 'in house after 100 years'. It is used by professional dressmakers, costume makers & corsetry users. It is heavier than plastic boning to give weight & rigidity to ballgowns, wedding gowns, period costume and corsetry. The cotton thread binding is available in white or black and allows for stitching to hold the boning in place. The Crin steel is available in bespoke lengths by mainly in 25metre rolls.
