Knight Optical offers a range of precision optical components for use in IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) applications. The most common usage of IPL systems are typically used as photo epilators.Custom Ceramic Reflectors are a key component for this application. The xenon flash lamp which are typically used emit light in 360 degrees. However utilising ceramic reflectors which are light reflectors with a U channel means that light which would normally be wasted i.e. shining backwards is now refocused down into the filters and light guides. Knight Optical provides ceramic reflectors which are typically moulded from alumina. This choice of material is down to its ability to withstand thermal stresses and high reflectivity values. Knight Optical offer a range of Stock Achromatic Doublet Lenses for use within Light Engines. Light engines are used for applications such as fibre optic lighting displays & in diagnostic tools like western blots & polymerase chain reaction systems. These Light Engines are typically able to produce changing colour displays. Within the light engine are a range of lenses & filters. The lenses help to homogenise and collimate the light, ensuring for a crisp high-quality beam output. Achromatic Doublets are typically used in light engine systems & correct for chromatic aberrations which exist in singlet lenses. This is when different wavelengths of light refract at different rates. The doublet lens helps to correct this by facilitating the focusing of the light to the same point. This is especially important in light engines which typically generate white light. Read PDF for more information

Monochromatic lights have a low pressure sodium light source that emits monochromatic light in which rays have virtually the same wavelength. This light is a very effective way of viewing fringe patterns on the surface of optical flats (Newton rings) Knight Optical's standard type moonlight has a straight line engraved across the diffused screen enabling the operator to easily compare the straight lines of the component being tested thus identifying how flat the flatness is. Other options of monochromatic lights are available enhanced version and floor standing version. These lights are not supplied with the optical flat as standard however we stock a range of quartz and Zerodur optical flats with a range of flatness’s to meet your application. Monochromatic light units are suitable for the following electrical services: 220/240V, 110V and 12VDC on selected units. Contact our technical team for further information. FOR MORE INFO READ PDF…

Optical Sorting Systems are a widely utilized technology used within the food industry; most particularly used in processing harvested foods such as fruits and vegetables, most notably potatoes, and nuts. Optical sorting was designed to help improve product quality, maximize throughput and increase yields. Within an optical sorting system there are four main components, the feed system, the optical system, the image processing software and last the separation system. The optical system utilizes lights and sensors housed above and below the flow of the products being inspected. It works by using a combination of light and sensors to illuminate objects; and to do this Beam-Splitters are one of the optical components used. Within the camera used in the system a Beam-Splitter cube is used to divide the light source coming from a single lens, into different channels; and each channel is filtered to a specific spectral region Read PDF for more data

Knight Optical offer a range of Stock Ball Lenses and Half Ball Lenses, for use within Fibre Lasers. As the name suggests ball lenses are completely spherical lenses mostly made out of High Refractive Index Glass such as Sapphire, and LASFN-9 Glass. The reason ball lenses are most commonly used is for their ability to focus light when leaving a fibre optic, so that it can therefore be used for a laser application. The key feature of ball lenses is their short back focal length allowing for precision coupling where size or space is a limiting factor in the system. Ball lenses are typically used in pairs with one lens acting as a collimator for the second to focus the light back into the coupled fibre. Where a more compact solution is required a half-ball lens is typically more suitable. We hold a large inventory of Ball Lenses. •Stock sizes from 0.5 5mm to 10mm diameter. •Custom sizes available to quotation. •Half Ball lenses also available.

Knight Optical offer a range of Stock N-BK7 Dome Windows, for use with Underwater Lighting. A dome is an optical window composed of two parallel curved surfaces. Domes are commonly used in defence applications and often in extreme environments such as Submersible ROV’s. The shape of the window creates a naturally strong shape that gets tougher under pressure. Using a curved dome optical surface allows for an increased beam angle, therefore allowing a greater area to be lit from one light source. For visible applications, N-BK7 with its high optical quality and uniform transmission and low absorption in the visible spectrum makes it an ideal material for underwater lighting. A tough and cost effective solution which allows for good transmission of the light source in the underwater environment will both protect the light source as well as transmitting from 300nm up to 2µm. Optical Coherence Tomography otherwise known as OCT is an advanced technology used specifically within retinal imaging and analysis. This non-invasive technology was designed to provide highly detailed images of the retina as well as the optic nerve. It uses light waves to take cross-section images of your retina, using OCT it is possible to see each of the retina’s distinctive layers. Within OCT’s, a light source with a broad optical bandwidth is used for illumination and is split by a Non-Polarising Beam-Splitter into 2 paths referred to as the reference and sample arms. The light from both the reference and sample arms are reflected back and combined at the detector. An interference effect is seen at the detector in the reference and sample arm only if the time travelled by the light is nearly equal. Read PDF for more info

Using some of the best light sources from suppliers including Universal Fibre Optics in the UK, NGA can supply and install a huge range of Fibre Optic solutions. These include installation within swimming pools, chandeliers, bespoke light fittings, standard ceiling systems and of course stretch fabric ceilings. With the ability to make up Fibre Optic looms in house we fuse versatile DMX, 0-10 or switching LED light sources with our high-quality looms to create affordable solutions. Fiber optic lighting uses optical fiber optics lighting as a sort of pipe which transmits light from the main source through the fiber to the spot where the illumination is needed. transmitting light from a source through the fiber to a remote location. It can be used to make a starfield ceiling within a stretch ceiling, to display features in a furniture, for example in a museum or in a residential project.
