Softshell derives its name from its inherent fabric structure. Softshell fabrics consist of 2 , 3 or 4 layers of fabric compounded with usually Polyurethane membrane. Outer skin structure offers waterproof and windproof functionality whereas membrane allows air passage and hence breathability of human skin. Outer fabric in softshell is usually 1/1 , 2/1 Oxford woven Polyester fabric layered with PU membrane. Polyester/Elastane (Lycra or Spandex or Creora may be) fabric also commonly used as shell fabric. Softshell fabrics find use in extreme sportswear, outdoor wear, sportswear, special work clothes and performance wear. Since the single jersey fabric has a flat front and a reverse loop structure, the front and back are different. The single jersey fabric types named according to the yarns used can be knitted with single-ply yarns and high weight. Single jersey fabrics produced in double layers or in different variations are generally used in the production of slip, athlete, undershirt, t-shirt, and underwear. In recent years, with the increasing number of revolutions of knitting machines, the needle movement is completed in a very short distance and time. For this reason, failure to select the appropriate oil will result in increased friction and abrasion, needle platinum breakage, and abrasion due to heating to high temperatures inside the machine. It has become a necessity for the oil selected in knitting machines to be of high quality.
