Different tungsten carbide qualities with a hardness above those of the standard and PM special qualities. Through clean grinding materials, we achieve a long working life through high resistance to wear.

Metallic heaters made from ML or tungsten are made for very high temperatures between 1000 °C (1 832°F) and 2 800 °C (5 072 °F). Plansee supplies heating elements for all types of high-temperature furnace in the form of ribbon, sheets, rods, twisted wire, wire bundles and wire mesh heaters. Plansee's materials belong to the group of refractory metals. Molybdenum and tungsten are the two materials that are most commonly used in high-temperature thermal processes. Thanks to their high melting points, they do not soften even at very high temperatures. Refractory metals have a lower coefficient of thermal expansion and better thermal conductivity than steel.

Plansee supplies sintering and annealing boats made of molybdenum, tantalum, niobium, tungsten and various alloys such as ML or TZM. They are dimensionally stable, corrosion resistant against many chemicals and have a very good creep resistance. Whether is is continuous or batch furnaces - Plansee has the right solution at hand. For best quality surfaces we supply sintering and annealing boats with coatings made of aluminum and zirconium. Plansee produces its boats according to the customer's drawing in different sizes and shapes.

Drillstar Industries washover shoes (also known as rotary shoes or mill shoes) are available in a wide range of dimensions and threads. They come in 12 types, each designed for a specific application. The design chosen will depend on the material to mill, and on whether the shoe should cut on the bottom, on the OD, on the ID or on any combination of these. These tools have an extended lifespan due to the special treatment applied before hardfacing. They can be stabilized upon request. Shoes can be dressed with your choice of TOPLOY or custom hardfacing (tungsten carbide cutting plates, etc.)

Section mills are designed for cutting and milling a complete section of casing. All models 4 1/2 in. OD and above are equipped with 2 sets of 3 knives: 1 long set and 1 short set, designed for first cutting and then milling the casing. Knives can be hardfaced with your choice of TOPLOY carbide grains or TOPMILL/SWORDFISH tungsten carbide inserts. For most jobs, TOPMILL inserts are strongly recommended to improve milling performance. This tool can be equipped with Flo-tel, which produces a sudden drop in mud pressure when the pipe is cut out, indicating the right time to start applying milling weight.

The Leica EM RAPID milling system for pharmaceutical research enables sample preparation for analysis of active ingredient distribution on solid-dose pharmaceuticals. The instrument, using a tungsten carbide or diamond miller, decapsulates pills without smearing and features adjustable cutting speeds between 300 and 20,000 rpm, defined step-layer removal, low-noise extraction and filtration with a Hepa filter and single or multiple holders.

Our granulator knife sharpening service is provided from Fernite’s ISO 9001 certified factory in Sheffield. Our professional and experienced knife sharpening experts look after your knives as they would if they were sharpening a brand new knife. We recommend sending your granulator knives to us as a complete set, so we ensure that the knives tolerances required by the granulator manufacturer are maintained. Please let us know what type of material you are processing, as thinner materials often require tighter blade tolerances. We have the capacity to sharpen blades of up to 6 metres. We are using less rigid porous grinding abrasives for minimal-loading and cool surface sharpening. Therefore, your knife doesn’t produce overheat and doesn’t become more brittle as a result. Correct equipment for sharpening either Carbon, Alloy, or even Tungsten Tipped granulator knife. On custom request, a Granulator Knife can be finish ground to profile.
