Magtrol’s Cogging Test System is a stand-alone test system designed to control and measure Detent Torque, Cogging Torque and Friction Torque. The test System includes a precision geared motor, a TS Series Torque Sensor integrating a 5 000 pulses encoder. CTS 100 to CTS 102 have a built-in security clutches to avoid system overload by mishandling when not in use. The geared motor drives the MUT (Motor Under Test) at a low speed from 1 to 10 rpm (respectively 8 rpm for CTS 103 and CTS 104), while acquiring its cogging torque related to angle position. The torque measurement covers a range up to 1 N∙m (depending on the selected torque sensor) with an accuracy of ± 0.1 mN∙m (for TS 100 – 50 mN∙m and TS 101 – 100 mN∙m). The executable software controls the system and displays acquired data. This easy-to-use device powers the transducer and utilizes high speed processing to display torque, speed and mechanical power. It includes a tare function to help offset any slight residuals caused by couplings or suspended loads. The 3411 may also be used with any torque sensors requiring 24 V DC power (500 mA max.) with ± 5 V DC torque output (± 10 V DC max.) and open collector, TTL or CMOS output for the speed signal.

With its compact, bearingless, maintenance-free design, the new TF Torque Flange Sensor from Magtrol brings many appealing advantages to torque measurement applications. The TF’s high torsional rigidity supports direct mounting on the machine shaft or flange, avoiding the use of couplings on one side. This allows easy integration into a test system, shortens the overall length of the test bench and reduces costs. Based on strain-gauge technology, the TF Sensor’s precise telemetry system enables highly accurate signal transmission. A signal amplifier mounted in the measuring flange amplifies the measuring signal, modulates it to high frequency and transmits it inductively (via the HF transmitter) to the receiver. In the receiver, the digitized torque signal is transformed into an analog output signal of ±10 VDC.
