European wood pellet consumption: Most of the consumption was directed to the production of heat energy, accounting for 61.8%. The consumption of pellets for heat energy can be divided into three markets – residential heating (69%), commercial heating (19%) and heat generated by cogeneration (12%). The remaining 38.2% of wood pellets were used for energy production.
