DSEC's commitment on the construction of Bioethanol plants is based on a very specialized technical knowledge of the Ethanol production processes; in this article you will find a more detailed understanding about the Downstream Process. The alcohol in the fermented mash is then concentrated by means of distillation and rectification, before the required water content of ethanol is regulated in the dewatering process. The accrued residues from distillation, the so-called stillage, is first evaporated and then dried to animal feed, the so-called DDGS. However, the production (drying) of DDGS requires a considerable amount of primary energy (e.g. fuel oil or natural gas); therefore, if feedlots are nearby, animal feed will be sold in wet condition, so called WDGS. For sugar cane and molasses the residue, so called vinasses, was returned to the fields as fertilizer- due to sustainability reasons and change in legislation, spraying of vinasses on the fields is mostly forbidden in the meantime. In the past, direct combustion of DDGS turned out to be unfeasible because of procedural difficulties and lacking efficiency (due to the high water content of the stillage). The realisation of a biogas plant could not be achieved in large scale so far because of the enormous quantities of stillage and their high organic stress. Combination of ethanol production with biogas respectively, biomass burning results in different biorefinery concepts or so called next generation technology.

Boiler feed water The so called „Boiler feed water“ is stored in a feed water tank and continuously feeded to the boiler of a steam generator. A big quantity of feed water is needed for example in steam power plants. The boiler generates steam, which is used for heating, for chemical processes or for driving a steam turbine respectively a steam engine. The feed water is purified in a way, that all harmfull components for the boiler are removed or neutralized. Leakages and evaporation loss are compensated by additional water which is purified in the same way than boiler feed water. Very often, valuable well and potable water resources are used for the generation of process water. Environmental regulations restrict this usage of well and potable water continuously and increase the costs for this resources steadily. ENERGY SAVING SOLUTIONS Energy needed for heating amounts up to 60% of total annual energy consuption of a given building. Reduction of the energy consuption can be achieved through improvement of the thermal insulation of the building and with improvement of control systems of the heating instalation. Reduction of energy consuption without compromising the comfort of the hated area is a goal wich has been set for HAI Thermo heating control unit. HAI Thermo is an electronic controller for district heating substations, boiler plants and individual boilers. It regulates the water temperature in the system according to: outside air temperature, inside air temperature and timing schedule. The basis of the regulatory function is a sliding diagram. HAI Thermo has four built-in sliding diagrams. Selection of the adequate sliding diagram is determined by the user’s needs and the thermal characteristics of the building.
