Xanthan gum is a naturally occurring polysaccharide that is approved as a food additive in the EU under the number E415. Through wholesalers and traders, xanthan gum is often imported from China, Germany and South Korea. In food production, the odorless, slightly yellowish powder is used as a gelling agent, thickener and filler. The food additive is used in many foods.
