Knight Optical provide a wide range of optical components present in a spectrometers, specifically mirrors and prisms with a UV Aluminium coating to enable the detection of UV wavelengths from 180nm. UV wavelengths can be hard to detect without the use of this coating and can make results inaccurate. Knight Optical UV Aluminium coating allows wavelengths between 180-650nm to reflection at an average of of 85% which is not achieved with Enhanced Aluminium which cuts on at 400nm and primarily for the visible region and above. The coating can be applied to Prisms and Mirrors, either from stock or custom. It is also worth noting that the coating has a protective layer which improves resistance to scratching and improves durability making it easier to clean. Read PDF for more details

Colorimeters measure colour in a substance, for example in water. It defines the measurement of the colour to enable its identification, using the lightwave spectrum. Colorimeters are a form of a spectrophotometer. The use of mirrors in the system, redirect the light beam from the light source to the sample and back to the sensor to enable a reading. Knight Optical provide high quality coated front surface mirrors of varying reflection averages from stock and to custom specifications. When it comes to a high quality IR Cut filter, it is the substrate with the coating applied that affects the performance. Knight Optical provide high quality wafers for precisely this, and the surface quality of our substrates eliminates blotching at the sensor which occurs on lower quality substrates especially where IR Cut filters are concerned. Our wafers are produced as thin as 500μm & provide exceptional surface quality. However, we can manufacture to a fully customised specification with a wafer thickness as little as 10 μm. Our substrates for stock or custom can be manufactured from a great deal of materials including: •Quartz •Borosilicate •BK7 or equivalent •Sapphire •And many more. The core of the technology is the automated welding process, where the tank is simultaneously welded on the inside and the outside. Similar to the Lipp double fold technology the material will be pre formed by Lipp special forming machines and reinforcement ribs are applied for additional stability.
