Xanthan Gum is a polysaccharide commonly used as a food additive with the code E415. It is obtained from the fermentation of plants such as corn or cane sugar. The final product is a free-flowing white powder that dissolves easily in water and has a shelf life of about two years. Foodcom S.A. supplies its Business Partners with Xanthan Gum in 25 kg bags. It is commonly used as a thickener, texturizer and stabilizer in various products such as salad dressings, condiments, syrups, sauces, meats, sausages, baked goods, frozen products and ice cream. Xanthan Gum is particularly useful in gluten-free and vegan products, as it can improve texture and suspension and create viscosity that would normally be achieved by using eggs. It is also used in the oil and gas industry to maximize oil recovery, in cosmetics as a stabilizer and emulsifier, and in medicine.
