The centrepieces are cut from the middle of the trunk and the sideboards from the outside of the trunk. ‘Centre-free’ parts are centrepiece parts without heartwood or the soft inner core of the trunk portion, making them stronger and more stable. Rough sawn wood is almost always kiln dried.
