With the help of the 3D-MID process, plastic parts can be metallized not only over the entire surface, but also selectively. To do this, the plastic part is activated with a special laser at the points that are to be coated (this is referred to as laser activation or laser direct structuring). The additives contained in the plastic directly under the plastic surface are “exposed” by the laser treatment. In a chemical bath, copper particles can then be deposited specifically only on the activated surfaces. Other metals, e.g. nickel, tin or gold, can then be deposited onto the starting layer of copper. In this way, a selectively coated plastic part is obtained. The PROFILEMASTER SPS 200 / 400 / 550 / 800 system is based on the laser triangulation principle using four up to eight light-section sensors. Each sensor consists of a laser transmitter and an industrial CMOS camera. The sensors are arranged in an octagonal metrology to obtain complete information about the product shape. The optics of the point laser emitter contain a cylindrical lens that generates a line. The CMOS cameras extract the position of the laser line internally using a peak detection algorithm, resulting in a sub-pixel resolution that enables high acquisition speeds. Thanks to its unique concept, precise and reliable measurements are guaranteed for virtually any shape, regardless of torsion. Likewise, an advanced software toolbox is available for measurements such as angles, widths, thicknesses, radii, depths, distances, diameters or deviation from the nominal value. Target with foldable base RSLT10 The laser target RSLT10 has been developed for quickly setting up a line laser into an accurate position along the axis. Position the laser target at your reference point opposite your laser. Afterwards direct the laser with the activated axis line to the centre of the laser target by moving the laser to the left and to the right so you can see the line on the target. Important: The target makes the laser line visible only if you stand in line with your head at the same height as the laser. The laser target can be used up to a distance of 30 meters even on sunny days. The laser target is foldable and can easily transported directly in the laser case.
