As medicinal raw materials, large plantain leaf (lat. Folium Plantaginis majoris) and fresh plantain grass (Herba Plantaginis majoris recens) are used. Preparations made from plantain leaves have a multifaceted healing effect. In scientific medicine, the leaves are used as a wound-healing, anti-inflammatory, hemostatic, expectorant, hypnotic, analgesic, bactericidal and antiallergic agent.
