From Quartz Tubes and Aspheric Lenses to sought-after Germanium Windows and Fresnel Lenses, our optics are specified for a diverse variety of applications – such as magnification and light diffusion. One of the most popular uses for Moulded Optics is light sensor devices. Connected to floodlight circuits and used to detect movement within their radar, these devices are commonplace within the defence industry and for home and workplace security usage. With the GESIPA® FireRex® it is possible for the first time to set huge numbers of blind rivet nuts fast and fully automatically. Since neither a camera nor any kind of optical device, which are usually dust-prone, are necessary to find the drilled hole, the system allows stable operation even in adverse production environments without requiring huge maintenance efforts. The setting tool can also be integrated into already existing production systems without a problem, thus allowing to make the systems more economical. Also available as FireRex® 2 C WinTech with setting process monitoring.

Luminance standards and radiance standards are used in photometry and radiometry, in particular for the calibration and characterization of cameras and optical measuring devices. Another application is the determination of reflection, transmission and absorption properties of materials. Luminance and radiance standards are homogeneous light sources that have a uniform brightness over their entire emitting surface and emit almost perfectly lambent and uniformly in all directions. The mode of operation is based on the principle of the integrating sphere. The integrating sphere consists of a hollow, spherical structure with a highly reflective inner surface. This surface is coated with a diffuse reflective coating of barium sulphate, which scatters almost 100% of the incident light. This property enables the sphere to distribute the light evenly in all directions and eliminate directional effects.

Applications and products Advanced ceramics are used in solid-state lasers (Nd-Yag..), gas lasers, fibre lasers, diode lasers, high-power laser diodes, IPL, as well as in optoelectronic devices - optical optical sensors / imaging, infra-red detectors... Calomel is suitable for the construction of acousto-optical devices. To illustrate, Calomel´s AO figure of merit is comparable with that of a tellurium dioxide TeO2 and more than one order better than that of lead molybdenate PbMoO4. The transparency of Calomel (0.38 to 20µm) enables the use of AO units in a broad spectral range (compared with TeO2) covering a very interesting thermal IR region. No acousto-optical tuneable filter for interesting spectral TIR region is currently available on the market.

Organic germanium compounds have relatively low toxicity to mammals, but are lethal to certain bacteria, giving these compounds potential medical importance.
