KB Schmiedetechnik GmbH is a highly certified West German drop forge, located in Hagen (Westphalia) - between the historic "blade & metal" region Solingen and the "soccer city" Dortmund - specializing in small series production of safety-relevant closed die forgings from 200g to 130Kg unit weight of all steel grades including duplex stainless steels, nickel based and titanium alloys. Examples are forgings for mechanical applications like brackets, holders, hoists, forged lifting gear, slings, hooks, chain links, special screws, nuts, gearwheels/ toothed/ cog wheels, forged pinions, and pressure parts like forged valves for hydrogen production and nuclear energy, as well as forgings for boiler systems construction. Forgings have a grain flow, like the fiber structure of wood, caused by plastic deformation during the forging process. Proper orientation of grain flow improves the physical properties of forged parts. Everyday examples for forgings are car wheel bolts or screw nuts. Further examples include all kind of fasteners and hoists including forged hooks, eyebolts, and chain links. Forgings are also part of complex assemblies like crawler track chains, articulation sockets for busses or trains, hydraulic systems and lifting gears, as well gearwheels (forged blanks), pinions, rollers, holders and supports.
