The quality of a clear sheet is defined by the calender unit . For this reason, particular attention must be paid to the chromium plated and high-mirror polished solid calender rolls. These represent the quality for producing sheets with perfect surfaces. . The calender is a series of hard pressure rollers used to finish or smooth a sheet of plastic materials. These rollers are designed on vertical direction for PP, PS, PET however, for PET sheet only, rolls design as horizontal direction to reach high thicknesses while keeping homogeneity. Kuzey calender units provide high precision concentricity and flexural strength, even the thinnest of sheets can be manufactured with extreme accuracy. Each Roll is controlled with a separate thermo-regulators. Thermo-regulators can be adjusted separately from 10 – 90° C. Calender Thickness Motion control is by the servo and gearbox system.

Compacting is the last finishing process after relaxation or drying and has thus decisive importance for the residual shrinking, the hand and the aspect and the shine of the fabric before cutting and makeup. The BRÜCKNER compacting calender is characterized by an extremely short fabric path, an optimum traction control and a sophisticated drive technology allowing high production speeds with consistent fabric quality. Depending on the fabric type and the quality requirements, BRÜCKNER can offer the following compacting solutions two felt belt compactors arranged one behind the other, rubber belt shrinking unit according to the Sanfor principle, rubber belt shrinking unit with downstream arranged felt belt compacting calender. In addition, the following units can be integrated into the compacting line equalizing frame for the overspreading and width control, straightener, steamer unit, edge cutter (knife or scissor type).

Automatic plant for the production of calendered bars from Ø 12mm to Ø 40mm. The bars are automatically selected, positioned, transferred to the calendering machine, calendered and then unloaded without the need for operator intervention. Bars calendering is mainly used in the construction of foundations for wind turbines or tunnels (those not made with prefabricated elements).

For the production of reeled resistors or sheet goods in calenders the thickness measurement is a vital factor for controlling and monitoring the production process. By applying systems of the RTP series, the profile thickness can be measured in various accuracy classes, thickness ranges and material widths.

The systems of the FTS familiy offer thickness measurements with extreme stability and accuracy. Applying them in extrusion lines provides reliable measurement results in high precision and thus creates the basis for controlling the production process and eventually the quality achieved.

Calendered rubber compound is rotocured with cloth and/or plate finish. The rubber compound is selected based on the application and service conditions. Sheeting is often supplied uncured for fabrication on clients’ premises. Rubber sheeting can be reinforced using woven fabric.
