Magtrol’s TS In-LineTorque Sensors provide extremely accurate torque and speed measurement. Each model has an integrated conditioning electronic module providing 0VDC to ±5VDC (±10VDC) torque output through an 8-pole connector, as well as a USB interface which can be directly connected to a computer. The sensor is delivered with software allowing easy connection and data acquisition. A speed encoder provides a minimum of 360PPR (Pulse Per Revolution) in Tach A, Tach B and Index reference Z (1PPR). Magtrol Torque Sensors are very reliable, providing high overload protection, excellent long-term stability and high noise immunity. TSSeries sensor models are strain gauge-based measuring systems with imbedded telemetry signal transmission. Three LED lights allow a visual check of the sensor status by color code. The sensor is powered by 24VDC (12-32VDC) through its connector. TARE & B.I.T.E. (Built-In Test Equipment) can be activated by either software or input from the 8-pole connector.

The absolute encoders series MEM-Bus avail on an interface to connect to field bus systems according to the CANopen standard. The encoders comply with standards CIA DS301, DS406, DS 305, featuring the functions of Class 2. They are supplied in multiturn version with 29 bit resolution (8192 steps/revolution x 65536 revolutions). The encoder operating parameters are set directly by the user: revolutions no., steps per rev., rotation direction and preset no. The diagnostic function signals possible parameter, position or temperature errors as well as the battery alarm – the data memory is anyway ensured for a long period (30 years). The baud rate and node selection can be easily set by LSS protocol or by means of dip-switches. MEM40-Bus encoders avail on 3 signalling LEDs for supply state, line and error. The encoder comes with metal housing, round flange, solid or hollow shaft. The electrical connection is by M12 connector. The encoders are UL listed for Canada and USA markets.

This provides a reliable database for the user to calculate the safety standard of his plant. If the Statox 505 is operated as a SIL 2 component, a so called “proof test” in certain time intervals is mandatory. In case of a failure, an alarm will be triggered. Thus the system cannot fail without the error being noticed. A green LED signalizes the system status. The display and the controls are located at the inside of the housing - well protected from the elements. Minimum time and work in the field The sensors of the Statox 505 are plug and play technology. Each sensor has a F-RAM on board which communicates all relevant parameters to the sensor head: Gas, measuring range, last calibration, ex works calibration, response time etc. The sensors can easily be calibrated in the shop. For the user this means that he never ever will have to do calibration work in the harsh elements (wind, rain, cold, heat). No more lugging heavy test equipment and gas cylinders into the field. All the user has to do in the field, is plug the sensor back in. To do that, you don`t even need a tool! While the sensor is getting calibrated in the shop, the sensor cartridge stays in place and protects the sensor head from dust and rain.
