Knight Optical can offer Hot Mirrors for use in Heat-Sensitive Systems. We supply a range of hot mirrors for a variety of applications – all individually QA checked and metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customers’ specs. What’s more, our Hot Mirrors are supplied in a range of sizes and shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications. Knight Optical supply precision optical components to customers working with Heat-Sensitive Systems. Hot Mirrors are designed to transmit visible wavelengths and to reflect heat, causing infrared wavelengths. Hot mirrors have a sharp cut-off between Infrared (IR) and visible because they have a dielectric coating that can be controlled for different AOIs (most commonly 0°). For systems that require heat shielding while still needing visibility, hot mirrors can be used. These can attenuate IR radiation and allow visible light, which permits your temperature-sensitive equipment to be visible.

Knight Optical can offer Lithium Fluoride Windows for use within UV Applications. We supply a range of lithium fluoride windows for a range of applications. All individually QA checked &metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customer specification. Supplied in a range of sizes & shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications. Knight Optical supply precision optical components to customers using UV optics such as UV lasers. UV lasers are beneficial in some applications as opposed to longer wavelengths such as infrared or visible light as they do not heat the areas around the target. This allows the laser the cut materials by breaking atomic bonds, rather than melting the material. Due to the large band gap for Lithium fluoride, it’s crystals are more transmittive to short wavelength UV radiation than any other material and are ideal for use in X-Ray monochromators, as for use in VUV, UV, Vis and IR spectrums. COLD LASER PERMANENT MARKING Cold laser marking refers to marking and treatment carried out with minimal thermal stress. Laser beam concentration allows direct marking without generating heat into parts, avoiding any burning or deformation. This permanent marking doesn’t alter the material and is an ideal solution for identification marking on soft materials and sensitive components. ULTRA-HIGH-DEFINITION MICRO MARKING Gravotech has developed green laser heads that guarantee small and fine markings. It offers an extremely thin spot size of 20 μm for micro markings with exceptional resolution while limiting thermal stress on the material. Small 2D Datamatrix, detailed logo, precise removal of thin layers of coating. MARK THE IMPOSSIBLE WITH THE GREEN LASER This range uses a 532 nm wavelength to mark materials that would not normally react to infrared wavelengths: from rough to the most transparent plastics, reflective metals (copper, silver, gold), ceramic, cardboard, wood.

Combustible Gas Detection - upgrade to upper class! Monitoring the environment for explosive gases most of the time you would be looking for hydrocarbons. It is a characteristic of hydrocarbons that they have a number of C - H bonds. These bonds absorb infrared light at a wavelength of 3,4 mm ( unsaturated hydrocarbons absorb at 3,3 mm ). This effect can be used to reliably detect these substances The most important advantage is that they are resistant against catalyst poisons and high concentrations. They can even be used in oxygen free atmosphere. Another important advantage of this technology is that a failure cannot go unnoticed. If an important component such as the lamp or the detector fails, the system will recognise this as 100 % absorption (an alarm situation). Most infrared gas detectors are designed as so - called NDIR (Non Dispersive Infra Red) double- beam detectors. This means, the light beam is divided in two portions with different wavelengthes. One is the measuring beam that will be absorbed by gas, the other is a reference beam at a wavelength that will not be absorbed by gas. This beam compensates for intensity variations of the lamp, dirt and corrosion. As the optics are mostly self maintained, an eventual inspection only checks if there is gas access to the sensor. Therefore much longer maintenance intervals compared to the catalytic sensor can be justified. As a rule of thumb, twice as long is OK. For plants which already have installed a combustible gas detection system, there is now a chance for a very cost- effective upgrade: The Statox 501 LC IR or LC MR! It consists of an EEx e (enhanced safety) terminal box and a sensor with integrated electronics. This sensor operates at the same supply voltage as a catalytic sensor. Its output signal is also identical to the signal of a catalytic sensor! This new innovative technical approach keeps the price in the same ballpark as catalytic sensors! All advantages of an infrared gas detector are now available for nearly the same price as a catalytic sensor and existing gas detection systems can now be upgraded without replacing the existing hardware. Of course the miniaturised chip inside the sensor cannot provide the same powerful electronics and software package as a high- end instrument, but however the new Compur Statox 501 IR LC features the most important advantages of an infrared system. So the next time maintenance is due with your gas detection system, check with Compur Monitors. The investment for an upgrade might pay back within one maintenance interval.

Benets of accurate moisture control Moisture measurement is one of the most-important parameters for ecient panel board production. A moisture content in raw material that is too high results in a slow-down in production speed with an increased risk of causing blows, if raw material becomes too dry excess energy will be consumed. Also the risk of re and explosion in the dryer is greatly increased. If moisture is monitored at dierent locations within the production process, valuable information will exhibit for optimization of the process. Multi-wavelength infrared light is used which is targeted to, and reected by the material surface. A certain wavelength of infrared light is absorbed by water molecules, thus more or less weakened. The weakened signal is compared to the unweakened signal. The resulting values indicate the Visualization-PC Material collector for drop chute applications (e.g. after dryer) Measuring through glass window (e.g. silo, bin, screw conveyor)
