Polyester resins (UP resins) form the basis of our product range in the glass fibre reinforced plastic systems business area – with a wide variety of applications. They range from thixotrope standard systems for manual lamination and fibre spraying to low-viscosity standard formulations for polymer concrete and sanitary applications to numerous special formulations for specific requirements. With a broad spectrum of properties and applications, our UP resin systems are suitable for products in a wide variety of industries. ALWA BARRIER COAT is a laminate resin, which is applied to protect the gelcoat for instance with glass fleece (e.g., ALWA MOULD COAT and ALWA UP GELCOAT).

ALWA UP GELCOAT is an aluminium filled polyester surface resin with a temperature resistance of 110 °C. Pot life is approx. 20 – 30 min. at room temperature, when using 1 – 2 % hardener (art. no. 3150001). The top layer can be polished to high gloss.

ALWA MOULD COAT is a vinylester resin and is used for surfaces of RTM, polyester and laminate moulds.

The mould construction fleece is particularly well tensile and conformable. It is also ideally suitable for complicated parts and moulds. Since this fleece is produced of 100 % polyester fibres, it can be processed with epoxy and polyester resin without any problem. The resin consumption is approx. 1.5 – 2 kg/m² depending on the application. It is ideal for producing free forms.

Spacewax 300 is a release agent in the field of thermoset processing. It can be used for castable or spreadable polyester-, epoxy- and DCPD- resins. The operating temperature range of Spacewax 300 is between room-temperature and +140°C. Processed correctly, Spacewax 300 will leave a high gloss surface.

Spacewax Sealer is a wax-based mold sealer and release agent in the field of thermoset processing. It can be used for castable or spreadable polyester-, epoxy- and DCPD- resins. The operating temperature range of Spacewax Sealer is between room-temperature and +200°C. Processed correctly, Spacewax Sealer will leave a high gloss surface.

Aqua Release 470 is a water-based, semi-permanent release agent and mold sealer in the field of thermoset processing, but especially for molds with highly porous surfaces. It can be used for castable or spreadable polyester-, epoxy-, phenolic and DCPD- resins. The operating temperature range of Aqua Release 470 is between room-temperature and +150°C.

In simple sealed moulds, glass fibre reinforced plastic components that are smooth on both sides are produced cost-effectively under a vacuum in comparatively short cycle times. The production of sandwich components resistant to bending, with a foam core, and the direct integration of metal reinforcements and threaded elements – for example for large vehicle components – has also proven itself. POLIFILM has been successful with surface protection films for more than 40 years. As one of the global suppliers of surface protection films POLIFILM offers a wide range of surface protection solutions for a large variety of different surfaces and requirements. As a main and proven component of typical protection films polyethylene is used. For specific applications other polyolefin resins or polyester are used as carrier components. Our adhesive systems use natural rubber as well as solvent- or water based acrylic components.
