Metallic reflection coatings enhance reflection and are used in many optical instruments for light deflection. We coat glass, metal and plastic. The choice of coating material depends on the reflection requirements in the defined wavelength range. We use aluminium, gold, silver and chromenickel, either with or without protection coating for the VIS, UV and IR ranges.

Coating substrates is one of our core competences. We have been coating precision optic components with optically effective layers ever since 1948. Over the years, technical specifications and possibilities have radically changed. We now have several highvacuum plants, an ultrasound cleaning and drying plant at our disposal to treat the substrates. We also build our own equipment e.g. for asymmetrical prisms. Coated substrates are inspected and documented with a "Lambda 900" PE spectral photometer. Antireflection coatings

Befort develops and manufactures laser optics for a wide range of applications since more than 20 years. Befort offerings range from a simple AR coated protective glass with a high laser damage threshold to a complex focus readjustment unit for ultrashort pulse lasers (Zoombox). Our laser optics are made of high quality Schottglass or quartz glass. Befort coats the optics precisely for their wave length. The coating exhibits a particular high laser damage threshold (LDT). heracle developes and produces specialty optical fiber with metal coating for application in harsh environments. Fiber types include Mutimode fiber with step or graded index profiles and Singlemode fiber. All fiber fiber types can be offered with either Gold or Aluminum coating. The pure fused silica step index multimode fibers (SIMM) are optimised for applications in the UV/VIS and VIS/IR wavelengths. The graded index Multimode fiber is designed to operate at 850nm and 1300nm. The Singlemode fiber is specified accoring to according ITU-T G.652. Metal coated optical fibers are typically used under extreme conditions such as: - Aircraft, missile, rocket, turbine & jet engine monitoring; - Radiation, caustic & corrosive environments - Material fatigue sensing applications - High power laser delivery systems - Ultra high vacuum applications

The best known microstructured optic is the Fresnel lens. Compared to a standard lens the surface of the fresnel lens is divided into a number of concentric grooves allowing for a wide range of optical effects (e.g. high-aperture (fast) large-area) while also reducing thickness, weight and cost. Fresnel lenses can be designed as a collimator, collector or with finite conjugates. They are usually corrected for spherical aberration. We offer a variety of standard designs as well as custom designs for our customers. Our lenses can be finished with a range of optical coatings and nanostructures and will be trimmed precisely to our customers requirements.

Microlens arrays are one- or two dimensional periodic patterns of small lens structures (lens dimensions up to a few millimetres). They can be used in a variety of ways, e.g. collimation or homogenization of light, depending on the design. We offer custom designs for our customers without limitations regarding the pattern in a wide range of lens sizes and overall array sizes. It is also possible to apply a microlens array directly into the plano side of all our plastic optics components. Our products can be finished with a range of optical coatings and nanostructures and will be trimmed precisely to our customers requirements.
