Position monitoring - Import export

A client in automotive industry intends to improve the inline glue bead supervision performed when automatically applying glue beads inside body parts. The system to be purchased should be able to monitor position, height and width of the glue bead any time. Until now, the client makes use of a 3D laser system with very complex beam guidance, in order to compensate problems arising from narrow space available. This present configuration however involves difficulties in adjustment, often giving rise to trouble and interruptions. Therefore the client is looking for a safe and less complicate solution. The chellenge in glue bead supervision: While the glue bead is being applied, very complex geometrical patterns are followed; the nozzle for the glue meanwhile does not rotate. Therefore this nozzle must be supervised in the total angle of 360°. This glue bead supervision can only be met by a laser scanner featuring an extremely low form factor.

The optoCONTROL CLS1000 optoelectronic fiber optic sensor is suitable for use in automation thanks to its variable switching outputs. The CLS1000 is used for reliable position monitoring as well as for position and presence detection. The fiber optic sensor comprises a CFS sensor and a CLS1000 controller. The wide detection and operating ranges of up to 2000 mm make the fiber optic sensor ideal for the detection of components even at great distances. Due to the small design of the CFS sensors, the CLS1000 optoelectronic fiber optic sensor series is particularly suitable for use in confined installation spaces.

The LVP-25-Z20 and LDR-14-Z20 sensors are used for monitoring the clamping position in machine tools. These inductive sensors are integrated in the release device and directly measure the clamping stroke of the drawbar onto which the target ring is glued. Due to their extremely compact design, these sensors are used for different types of tools while providing high-precision and continuous monitoring. No adjustment is necessary when changing the tool.
