BEDIA level monitoring sensors are used to monitor the filling levels of liquids. The sensors detect when a filling level is exceeded or falls below a limit. Water-based liquids like coolants, AdBlue®, fresh water, waste water, bilge water and oil-based liquids like motor oils, hydraulic oils, fuels and brake fluids can be monitored. Since they contain no mechanical moving parts, their function will not be influenced by dirt particles or other influences. No electrical current is sent through the medium via an electrode with BEDIA sensors, an electrolysis of the medium is not possible. Operating Principle The function of the sensor is based on the capacitive principle. It detects the change in capacitance that occurs when an electrode surrounded by air is immersed into a liquid medium. This change in capacitance at the electrode of the sensor excites an oscillator. This signal is processed by a microcontroller-based evaluation circuit which activates or deactivates an output stage.

Areas of Application and Advantages BEDIA CLS 10 stands for special versions of our well-proven CLS 40 series for heavy duty applications. Currently, the BEDIA CLS 10 series includes a variety of sensors, which are compatible replacement parts for level switches from Cooper Standard and Robert Shaw which are obsolete nowadays – and this in well proven BEDIA quality. This also includes sensors with 2 complementary CMOS outputs. It should be emphasized that the water sensors with two complementary outputs can be operated with a supply voltage of 4.75 V DC – 32 V DC. According to initial estimates, in Germany about three million LCD monitors will be recycled in the year 2016. However, they often still have backlighting containing mercury and therefore have to be classified as “hazardous waste” in accordance with the German General Administrative Regulation (AVV) and registered in compliance with the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (Elektro G) under category 3. Whereby special conditions must ensure that no risk arises from the mercury for the environment or for humans. However, because of a lack of suitable automated procedures for the recycling of LCD monitors, it was to date only possible to dissemble the appliances laboriously by hand, with the ensuing health dangers for the workers. The reflectCONTROL RCS110-245 with integrated controller is designed for stationary measurements or integration into machines. This compact sensor detects anomalies on shiny surfaces which are processed and displayed as reflectivity and curvature image by software. GigE Vision enables the transfer of surface images to a wide range of image processing software packages for further analyses.

The interface and signal processing units extend the field of application of Micro-Epsilon sensors. The interface modules are used to convert sensor signals into digital or bus-compatible interfaces. This enables interfaces such as USB, RS422, Ethernet/IP, Profinet and EtherCAT for numerous sensors. The signal processing units are also used to record several sensor signals, to calculate and output them together. This is necessary, for example, for planarity measurement or thickness measurement.

The Compur phosgene dosimeter badge is a reliable and very specific method to measure the phosgene exposure in phosgene producing and processing units. For a measurement the multiple- use Badge holder with clip is furnished with one indicator paper and one diffusion paper. The indicator paper changes from yellow to brick red depending on phosgene concentration and time. The total dose can be evaluated easily and accurately with the aid of a colour comparator chart.

New Gas Generator to check personal Gas Detectors A 100% Test in just 10 Seconds Personnel working in chemical plants protect themselves with personal gas detectors from gas exposure. Gas leaks are very unlikely to occur, so the gas detector will always display „0“. An instrument displaying zero can do so for two reasons: a) The concentration is zero. b) The instrument is defective. For good reasons a daily check of the instrument is mandatory. It would be too time consuming to perform a complete calibration every day. The daily functional test with the gas generator makes sure that no instrument failure caused by abuse or wear and tear will go unnoticed. To perform a test, it is sufficient to expose the sensor to a short puff of gas and see if the instrument gives an alarm. To make this test as fast, easy and cheap as possible, no accurate gas concentration is used, but approximately twice the value of the alarm threshold. The gas generator stops gas generation after 10 seconds automatically. If the detector fails to alarm within this time interval it is not safe to be used. The amount of gas produced when activated is very small. Therefore no restrictions regarding transportation and storage of the gas generator apply.

The system consists of an intrinsically safe sensor head communicating with a control module. Up to 9 control modules can be located in a 19”-rack where each combination sensor head - control module works as an independent gas detection system. Therefore the total system can be expanded without limitation. No new units sold anymore. NORIMOS 4 – The High Performance PLC-based Alarm, Monitoring and Control System The N4 is our alarm, monitoring and control system (AMCS) for highest demands in operating comfort, usability, flexibility and system availability and is based on our NORISYS 4 open automation platform. It is used to monitor and control ship technology, such as engines and other auxiliary systems. The N4 is a PLC (IEC 61131) based AMCS with decentrally placed subsystems. Each subsystem is operating independently with a high performance I/O CPU master and its slave units and is connected to the other subsystems. The system is based on extremely robust components, can be used flexibly and furthermore, it can be extended with a comprehensive package of standard functions on request: whether as a simple data acquisition system, alarm and monitoring system, with additional control functions for pumps, valves and fans, or even fuel level measurement or power management.

The N3500 (NORIMOS 3500) is our cost-efficient alarm, monitoring and control system for engines and auxiliary systems. The system is based on two central, redundant PC master stations. They collect and monitor the measurement data from the connected I/O modules. With up to 9,000 I/Os, a matching alarm extension system for accommodation and a monitoring display for the bridge, the system can be easily extended and adapted to any application. The N3500 is based on robust components and can be used flexibly: from simple data acquisition systems up to complex alarm and monitoring systems with integrated control functions for pumps, valves and fans.
