Angle encoder modules from HEIDENHAIN are combinations of angle encoders and high-precision bearings that are optimally adjusted to each other. They are characterized by their high degree of measuring and bearing accuracy, their very high resolution, and the highest degree of repeatability. The low starting torque permits smooth motions. Due to their design as completely specified and tested composite components, handling and installation is very simple. Setup Since HEIDENHAIN manufactures the bearings as well as the encoders, the two functional assemblies are highly integrated. Fewer components are necessary than in conventional solutions, resulting in fewer joints. This permits a very compact and rigid design, with particularly low overall heights. Currently, angle encoder modules with hollow shafts of 35 mm and 100 mm are available.

HEIDENHAIN angle encoders with integral bearing are characterized in particular by very high system accuracy. The integral bearing in the encoders eliminates any effect on measuring accuracy from the bearing of the machine components. The integrated stator coupling in the RCN/RON/ECN series encoders guarantees lowest possible error from the effect of tolerances in the shaft coupling. All angle encoders with integral bearings feature shaft seals that ensure resistance to contamination (IP64 protection). These encoders enjoy an entire spectrum of possible applications in machine tools, measuring machines, telescopes, printing machines and many other areas. The angle encoders without integral bearing (modular angle encoders) are intended for integration in machine elements or apparatuses. ETx25K kit encoders are used for reliable angle measurement from a shaft which is installed in the application: as single turn variant (360°) with analogue, PWM, incremental, SER or SPI output, or as a multiturn variant (up to 72000°) with analogue output. ETx25K can be used up to medium environmental requirements (IP67). Singleturn electronics: ETA25K absolute analogue encoder (ETA25K X redundant version): Provides an absolute analogue signal with 12 bits resolution. ETP25K absolute analogue encoder: Pulswidth output (PWM) ETI25K incremental encoder: With up to 1024 pulses / per revolution and availability of following output signals: TTL, Push-Pull or Open Collector.
