Spring steel obtains its special properties through special treatment in the production process, whereby the even distribution of the carbon content is of particular importance. Stainless steel gas springs function the same as their common hydraulic counterparts, but give an alternative when operating under rough conditions such as off-shore and other outdoor exposure applications. Other commons application areas for stainless steel gas spring include health care products, food industry and medical devices.

SPIROL offers a line of austenitic stainless steel Disc Springs in diameters ranging from Ø8mm to Ø71mm. Austenitic stainless steel is typically used for static and low cycle applications that require a heightened level of corrosion resistance. It withstands fresh water and atmospheric marine conditions very well, and is suitable for many other industrial conditions including acidic environments. This material will continue to work harden with use so cycle life is limited, but creep resistance is good. SPIROL supplies both single Disc Springs as well as Pre-Stacked Disc Springs in custom configurations, packaged in shrink wrap with a perforated tab for easy of assembly.

SPIROL manufactures Coiled Spring Pins out of 316 stainless steel to meet specific application requirements. Type 316 stainless steel is similar to 302/304 stainless steel with a slightly higher nickel content and the addition of molybdenum. The molybdenum content increases the chemical resistance of this alloy greatly. 316 exhibits superior pitting resistance against sea water, acetic acid vapors, chlorides, sodium and calcium brines, hypochlorite solutions, phosphoric acid, and the sulfite liquors and sulfurous acids used in the paper and pulp industry. This alloy is also austenitic, non-magnetic and non-hardenable using conventional methods. 316 stainless steel has better mechanical properties at elevated temperatures than 302/304 and offers excellent mechanical integrity at subzero temperatures. Spring isolators can be used for source and sender vibration isolation. The springs are manufactured of a special spring steel wire and KTL coated. Every spring isolator can be provided with an additional damping cushion of stainless-steel. Elemente with a frequency range between 3-4 Hz can be provided with a viscous damping, too. Spring isolators with a natural frequency range of 3-5 or 4-6 Hz are especially made for higher forces. They can be expanded in size and load-capacity without any difficulty.
