From now on, all our blown tubes are also available in Bio-HDPE, which is made from sugarcane. These include the product lines BlockPack, TwistPack Plus, QuadroPack or TwistPack. Selected sizes of TwistPack Plus and BlockPack are even available from stock. From the outside, the packaging made of Bio-HDPE does not differ from its conventionally manufactured "twins"that are also just as robust and flexible in use. There is still one serious difference: the production of Bio-HDPE does not cause any emissions, but on the contrary binds a whole 2.15 kilograms of CO2 per kilogram of material. Another plus: the Bio-PE used is 100% recyclable and can be fed into the material cycle together with PE based on fossil raw materials.

PE film label manufactured entirely from recycled material Produced exclusively from recycled polyethylene, the HERMA label material rPE is thought to be the first of its kind intended for use in the manufacture of PE film labels. It responds well to coating during production and offers very good printability no matter what the technique, from flexo and offset to screen and digital printing. This solution therefore perfectly brings together sustainability and superior product characteristics. And with the completely new HERMA rPP self-adhesive material, we are following through in the booming recycled film segment.

Growing demand for recovered paper We are stepping up the use of recycled paper and rapidly expanding our range. One focus is on coated papers, which are of particular interest due to their wide range of applications and the increasing demand from label users. HERMAcoat Recycling (236), for example, consists of 100 percent post-consumer recycling material (PCR), i.e. the waste paper from private households.

Every year, Germany produces around 10 million tonnes of cardboard and paperboard for the packaging industry. After their use, these items of cardboard packaging and boxes must then be reduced in volume before passing through the recycling process. This volume reduction step is performed by recycling companies and public recycling depots or in cardboard packaging and corrugated board factories. Reasons for volume reduction: For these requirements, ERDWICH has developed a specialised product range – the EKZ and FKZ cardboard shredders – which can be supplied in a range of sizes. The ERDWICH plant items have been designed as a perfect match for downstream transportation systems. The EKZ has two shafts with independent drives: one high-speed shredder shaft and one slow-speed feed-in shaft. The feed-in shaft feeds the packaging to the shredder shaft, which then shreds the cardboard into fragments of the desired size. The machines can also easily handle fruit crates and polystyrene...
