Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding offers many advantages over other fusion welding methods, such as the complete absence of spatter and low welding-fume emissions. Since TIG welding uses a non-consumable electrode, the process is ideal for welding so-called root passes or in forced positions due to the decoupling of current and welding consumables.

The LVW series covers smaller applications with machines of approx. 500 mm width and large applications up to a width of 2000 mm, like pallets, bumpers and more. As a principle our standard machines are equipped with an hydraulic lifting table. Depending on the machine size a contact force of up to 70 kN can be applied. This is necessary for large suction pipes made of PA 6.6 GV30 with heavy distortion or very large welding surfaces. Our vibration welders are fitted with our patented CPC system. This kind of regulation which is integrated in the converter stimulates the vibration unit with optimal resonance frequency. A low energy consumption is guaranteed during the friction phase. It is not necessary to enter the frequency parameter in the machine, as it is permanently “optimized”. This, the KLN drive systems are independent from the tool weight. The tool weight is solely limited in height, caused by the mechanical design and the high accelerating powers arising in these systems.

For the assembly of plastic parts, which differ in size and condition and would therefore not be suitable for standard machines, we recommend the use of special equipment with several ultrasonic units for ultrasonic welding and processing methods. • Riveting • Welding • spot welding • punching • flanging • cutting • embossing • printing Multi-head systems These machines can also be used to accomplish complex tasks, e.g. the combination of different welding techniques, like spin welding and hotplate welding and for numerous automated processes

In the last few years KLN has enlarged their hot plate welding machine program „TOOLMASTER“ and their vibration welding machine program “LVW” by the infrared welding program. The KLN machine program of „pure“ IR welding is based on the hot plate machine program „TOOLMASTER”. Machines for infrared heating should be equipped with servomotor drives in order to guarantee simple, quick and exact positioning. For welding by means of infrared technology short-wave (0,78-2 μm) as well as medium-wave (2-4 μm) infrared radiation of the spectrum can be used. This depends particularly on the radiation absorption capacity of the respective polymer material. The more precisely the radiator is adapted to the absorption capacity of the polymer material, the higher is the degree of efficiency, that means the conversion into warmth. Short waves are absorbed in deeper layers of the material, whereas medium waves heat it up more at the surface.

The idea of the protective effect of argon was continued in our specially designed autoclave. In contrast to Wig – hand welding, there is 100% protection of the seam and root side. This leads to a weld seam not chemically affected by ambient gases.

Tube squaring machines are necessary to achieve burr-free and right-angled seam preparation for orbital welding. That‘s why Orbitec offers two machines, from the small handy Planfix 40 S to the large Planfix 115 S. The Planfix 40 S is a powerful and handy squaring device for mobile or stationary use with battery or mains drive. It has a large viewing window, a tool carrier for mounting the inserts, double-sided indexable inserts, and a feed with 0.1mm scale graduation. Alternatively, existing Orbitec facing tool bits can be used without tool carriers. The RBK 60 S is an extremely robust water-cooled weld head for a standard heat exchanger application up to an ID of 60 mm, modified to an ID of 99 mm or 120 mm. The pressure regulator can be tightened by hand without the need for a spanner. It reduces the stored bottle pressure from max. 200bar (on request 300bar) to an outlet pressure which is adjusted at the flowmeter. The flowmeters are used to set the required flow in l/min. Important: The pressure regulator has a constant outlet pressure of 2.5bar which is necessary to protect the gas flow sensor of the orbital unit.
