SOMOS® RDX attachment dryers are designed for drying small volumes of polymer pellets with throughputs of around 8 to 10 kg/h using in-plant compressed air. They are ProTec's way of providing an economic alternative to conventional drying systems (e.g. adsorption dryers): the compressed air technology used combines perfect drying results with minimal operating costs and virtually maintenance free operation. SOMOS® RDX is available in 38 container sizes of 1 l to 82 l.

SOMOS® RDM mobile dryers are designed for drying highly flowable, hygroscopic polymer pellets and regrind. They can be used flexibly as auxiliary units for supplying processing machines for moderate throughputs which is a particular advantage for frequent material changes. The mobile dryers, with their attractive, functional design, consist of a dry air generator and an insulated stainless steel drying bin. They are optionally available with an integral dry air conveying unit for automatically feeding the processing machine. The dry air generator uses the SOMOS® single chamber system making highly efficient use of desiccant. As a result, the desiccant can be regenerated quickly and energy-efficiently, providing cost benefits for the processor. Having five graduated sizes of drying bin with an effective volume of 30 l to 400 l, the dryers are capable of flexibly pre-processing a volume of material suited to the processing machine's throughput right by the machine.

Modular SOMOS® RDC stationary drying systems are suitable for efficiently drying virtually any kind of hygroscopic polymer pellets and regrind. The material is dried with heated drying air, optimum air distribution in the material being dried ensuring uniformly good drying results. ProTec designs and supplies RDC drying systems made to measure for all polymer processing processes. Material throughputs meet demand from individual machines right up to a plant's entire installed base of machinery.

The SOMOS® RDF dryer is used for drying hygroscopic polymer pellets. It consists of compact RDF modules which can be flexibly combined, are capable of autonomous operation and have drying capacities of 10 kg/h to 250 kg/h per module. The modules are available in 7 sizes with a volume of between 30 l and 600 l and a drying are volume between 10 m3 and 180 m3, each one being individually controllable by its own controller. Alternatively, when interconnected, they can be controlled using a common operator control unit. Each module has an integrated air generator, so ruling out complete failure, as may occur with a centrally supplied drying system.

These small pellets are made of pure, binderless sintered glass, and represent a completely new substrate for use in bioreactors. The open-pored structure of approx. 40...100 µm permits microorganisms to accumulate in the cavities between the sintered glass particles. This ensures that even deeply-embedded cells are supplied with the surrounding medium. Moreover, the material's high purity and its smooth surface provide optimum conditions for high cell growth. METRO SG HOS system material loaders can automate important areas of the production process cost-effectively and efficiently. Virgin and regrind material is conveyed quickly and cleanly to the hopper of a processing machine, a drying bin or a dosing and mixing unit. Material is delivered exactly when needed keeping machines running and avoiding costly downtime. Material wastage is eliminated and the work-space is kept clean and safe.

The stations are supplied with a three-phase blower which is low-noise and maintenance-free. They also include a cyclone dust filter with dust collection bin and a PLC control for up to eight METRO SG HOS material loaders, eight METROMIX proportioning vales and four line-purging valves.

The METRO SG HES range of single-phase material loaders enable processors to automate a key area of the production process cost effectively, bringing significant benefits for process management. Plastic granulate is conveyed quickly and cleanly to a processing machine hopper, a drying bin or a day bin as needed. The material loader is equipped with its own control, so that it recognizes when material is needed and automatically starts conveying. This keeps machines running and avoids costly downtime while eliminating material wastage, keeping the workspace clean and safe. The METRO SG HES range can handle throughputs of 15 to 200 kg/h.

The three-phase conveying station can be used for a wide range of central conveying applications with a large choice of blower sizes. The three-phase blower is low-noise and maintenance-free. The station is available with a blower protection filter or optionally a cyclone dust filter with collection bin. The integrated VAC swift control is equipped with a 7“colour display which can operate up to 8 METRO swift HOS material loaders and up to 8 purging valves.

The COMPACT swift dryers are designed with flexibility in mind. They offer an integrated solution, combining the drying and conveying of the raw material in one unit. The dryers are available in two versions and are each equipped with one drying bin of the size 80 or 150 litres and up to 2 hopper loaders with a capacity of 4 litres each. The COMPACT swift A dryer is provided with advanced functions such as dew point control and dry air conveying function with line purging. Thanks to a modern 7-inch colour display with touch screen, all conveying and drying functions can be shown and monitored in a user-friendly way. 16 user languages can easily be selected.

The new LUXOR swift 250 dry air generator offers the ideal price-performance ratio for standard applications in the drying of granulate. The LUXOR swift 250 has a dry air capacity of 250 m³/h. The dry air generator can either be operated with a single drying bin or combined with multiple preconfigured drying bins in your plant. The drying bins are available from 100l to 900l sizes. This gives you the maximum possible flexibility and an uninterrupted production flow. For more energy efficient drying, additional functions such as dew point control or return air cooling can be added. Combining additives with the virgin material at the processing machine requires excellent mixing quality and consistently accurate dosing. These requirements can be achieved and exceeded with the volumetric MINICOLOR swift V dosing and mixing unit. The units are mounted at the feed throat of the plastics processing machine and are space-saving.

Injection moulders for making very small parts are faced with the unique challenge of being able to dry just the right amount of material for their process. Operating in extremely critical production conditions, these smaller throughputs can present considerable problems. It is important to scale the drying to the size of the moulding machine. The LUXOR CA S 0.75 to 5 range of compressed air micro dryers is specifically designed for small material throughputs. The range comprises of a modular line of correctly sized drying equipment to help moulders meet the small tolerances without waste or contamination. These small dryers take factory supplied compressed air which is expanded to atmospheric pressure. This produces dry process air with a very low dew-point which is then heated to the required drying temperature. No desiccant is required.

LUXOR A series dryers with ETA-process® and ETA plus® energy saving technology are specifically designed for supplying dried plastic granulate for many different plastics processing applications. They have either two or three fully insulated stationary desiccant beds with separate process and regeneration blowers which provide consistently low dew-point air to the process, while reducing energy consumption. The advanced LUXOR A series consists of ten models with drying capacities from 80 to 2400 m3/h. Each advanced system dryer can be flexibly combined with all LUXORBIN A drying bins from 15 to 2400 litres. In addition, motan offers a range of extra-large drying bins with volumes from 3,000 to 13,000 litres. These are also available with gas heating. All motan system drying bins are made of stainless steel, are completely insulated, and have individual heating as well as temperature control.

Efficient, accurate material drying is a crucial element in the processing of engineering plastics to ensure impeccable product quality. The fully-insulated LUXOR CA S compressed air dryers provide a cost-effective solution for highly efficient continuous drying of all types of plastic granulate with material throughputs up to 25 kg/h. Both the LUXOR E A and LUXOR EM A dryers with optional ETA plus® energy saving technology are specifically designed to supply consistently low dew-point air to one drying bin, while reducing energy consumption. The LUXOR E A dryer is designed for use with existing conveying systems or hopper loaders. Whereas the LUXOR EM A offers a machine dedicated solution with integrated dry air conveying for up to two processing machines and the drying bin. There are three sizes with drying bin capacities of 60, 100 and 150 litres. The LUXORnet controls utilise modern, flexible BUS-technology. As standard, the colour touch control manages the dry air generator, one drying bin and with the EM version, material conveying to one drying bin and two processing machines. With the METRO G/F/R material loaders, large quantities of granulate, dusty regrind and flakes can be conveyed automatically to the hopper of a processing machine, drying bin or day bin. Filters with sophisticated cleaning technology and large outlet flaps guarantee trouble-free operation. Via the hinged lid, free from vacuum and material hoses, the loaders can be quickly and easily cleaned during material changes.
